Our International Men’s Association is led this biennium by President Arnold Bjorkman of Illinois, President-Elect Bill Moyers of Virginia, Secretary-Treasurer Barry Estell of Kansas, Historian John Jordan, Louisiana and International Convention Men’s Activities Director Bob Meyst of North Carolina. Sherrill Carroll of Tennessee is already planning golfing events for the men who enjoy that sport. As a point of personal privilege, I would like to thank my husband Bobby for all he and our family do to support me in my involvement as International President of Alpha Delta Kappa. He is always sure I have everything I need and offers his love and support in all that I do. We are soul mates and best friends. Bobby, I love you for who you are and the example you always set in our daily lives. “Alpha Delta Kappa Excel- lence in Action” is our International theme for the biennium with stars being symbolic of the excellence of our organization. We are indeed an honorary organization of women educators dedicated to Excellence in Action. Our International Chapter for 2009-2011 is from across the United States with representation at each conference from other regions. For each conference, Edwina Aaron, Lynette Varner, Judy Devokaitis, Beverly Quiring, Sherryl Longhofer, Ruth Ann Griggs and Pat Pursell are our brightest stars, serving as the International Vice Presidents for the seven regions. Our 23 members of International Chapter traveled to and participated in different regional conferences, shining brightly in a stellar galaxy. Leadership in each region mirrors and manifests stars of excellence. Stars twinkle and glow more brightly throughout the regions because of past leaders. Their goals, visions, dreams and ideas will be reflected among the stars into eternity. Many leaders internationally have had a direct influence on my involvement in Alpha Delta Kappa. Members of International Standing Committees are among the stars, sharing their commitment and dedication to Alpha Delta Kappa. The International Standing Committees devote countless hours to the work of their committees. I sincerely appreciate each committee member’s willingness to serve. For a few minutes, let us focus on the stars. Stars—brilliant and bright—with their enduring glow are universal symbols of our highest hopes, dreams and ideals. Historically, stars have been important to civilizations throughout the world. As we view photos from our state, provincial and national conventions in each region, reflections of star qualities are evident. We observe the smiles, the recognition of outstanding contributions to education, the happiness and kindness of our membership.
