Trip description: Travel to Longreach on outback Queensland to visit key Cretaceous (Aptian-<br />

Late Albian) dinosaur, marine reptile and invertebrate fossil sites in the Northern<br />

Eromanga Basin. Visit the Lark Quarry Dinosaur trackways, and see specimens of<br />

Australovenator, Diamantinasaurus and Kronosaurus.<br />

Highlights: Australia Age of Dinosaurs Museum, Stockman’s Hall of Fame and Qantas Museum<br />

in the outback town of Longreach, wildlife and outback hospitality<br />

Special notes: Specific joining instructions apply to this field trip and will be provided upon<br />

receipt and confirmation of trip booking. Some collecting is permitted, but fossil<br />

experts from Australia need a letter of clearance. This field trip is not suitable for<br />

Delegates are required to take the designated flight into Longreach and make their<br />

own way to the motel.<br />

Day 2 - Monday 30th July <strong>2012</strong> - Longreach to Winton<br />

After breakfast spend the day visiting the Australian Age of Dinosaurs laboratory<br />

and then travel on to Winton for dinner and overnight.<br />

Day 3 - Tuesday 31st July <strong>2012</strong> - Winton<br />

After breakfast visit Carisbrooke Station followed by Lark Quarry.<br />

Lark Quarry, in outback Australia, is currently the only recorded dinosaur stampede<br />

on earth. In this place, around 95 million years ago, a large herd of small two<br />

legged dinosaurs gathered on the banks of a forest lake to drink.<br />

Return to your motel for dinner and overnight.<br />
