Publications<br />
The <strong>34th</strong> <strong>IGC</strong> will publish standard abstracts electronically at the time of the event, but will not publish<br />
papers presented. Symposium convenors and groups wishing to publish papers presented at the <strong>34th</strong> <strong>IGC</strong><br />
are free to enter independently into agreements with publishing houses.<br />
The scientific sponsor of the <strong>Congress</strong>, the IUGS, has an arrangement with The <strong>Geological</strong> Society<br />
of London (GSL) Publishing House for the publication of books arising from its programs and other<br />
activities, including <strong>International</strong> <strong>Geological</strong> <strong>Congress</strong>es. GSL will approach selected <strong>IGC</strong> Symposia<br />
and Specialist Session Convenors to encourage them to consider producing a <strong>Geological</strong> Society Special<br />
Publication from their session - Special Publications are published online and as hardback books which<br />
will be included in ISI Web of Science and Scopus.<br />
The Special Publications do not have to be comprehensive treatments, but they do need to be balanced<br />
and have a strong subject focus. Ideally they comprise 18-25 papers, although there have been longer<br />
and shorter ones. More information can be found at www.geolsoc.org.uk/sp.<br />
Alternatively, Convenors are free to negotiate publication of their Symposia/Specialist Sessions with other<br />
publishing houses, or to elect not to publish full papers.<br />
