Day 4 - Tuesday 14th August <strong>2012</strong> - Kings Canyon to Yulara<br />

After breakfast walk the Kings Canyon rim before proceeding on to Uluru (Ayers<br />

Rock) in the afternoon to watch the sun set over this amazing and spectacular rock.<br />

Arrive at Ayers Rock for dinner and overnight<br />

Overnight: Outback Pioneer<br />

Day 5 - Wednesday 15th August <strong>2012</strong> - Yulara<br />

After breakfast depart for a perimeter walk around Uluru followed by a visit to<br />

the indigenous cultural centre and a drive to the spectacular rock formation of<br />

KataTjuta (The Olgas) for a short viewing walk.<br />

Return to your hotel for dinner and overnight.<br />

Day 6 - Thursday 16th August <strong>2012</strong> - Yulara to Alice Springs<br />

After breakfast drive back to Alice Springs with a visit to Henbury meteorite craters<br />

along the way. Own accommodation and onward flight arrangements upon arrival<br />

in Alice Springs<br />

Special Note: You will need to book your own accommodation in Alice Springs at the end of the<br />

tour.<br />

Equipment Required: Participants should be prepared for mild days and cold nights. Sunhat, warm jacket<br />

and strong walking shoes are essential.<br />

Trip description: This trip combines the world heritage wetlands, scenery and Indigenous culture<br />

of Kakadu National Park with an opportunity to visit one of Australia’s premier<br />

Paleoproterozoic mineral fields. View the geology and mineral deposits of the Pine<br />

Creek Orogen, the Ranger unconformity-related uranium mine in Kakadu, the<br />

historical Rum Jungle uranium and polymetallic mineral field and the Pine Creek<br />

goldfield. See the Palaeoproterozoic geology and tectonic evolution of the Pine<br />

Creek Orogen, including Archean basement<br />
