C. County Courts - Located in Rural Areas<br />

1) The conciliation courts and municipal caurts<br />

of rural <strong>Minnesota</strong>.<br />

2) Jurisdiction over civil claims where the amount<br />

in controversy does not exceed $5,000.<br />

Procedure is governed-by <strong>Minnesota</strong> Rules of<br />

Civil Procedure and local rule& of the particular<br />

district. Persons bringing claims are usually<br />

represented by an attorney as procedure is quite<br />

formal.<br />

Appeals in law or fact are taken directly to<br />

the <strong>Minnesota</strong> Supreme Court.<br />
