Date/Time of appointment:______________________________________________________________________ Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment time for registration and test preparations. Prior to your test, you will be called by a St. Mary’s representative to collect demographic and insurance information. If you do not receive this phone call 24 hours prior to your appointment, please call 812.485.4926 or 888.908.4926, option 1. Test Preparations: Patient Instructions for Nuclear Stress Test • No decaffeinated, caffeine or chocolate beverages 24 hours prior to procedure. May have water and other clear liquids (non-caffeinated beverages) the morning of your test. • May have light breakfast prior to procedure • Take other medicines as usual with water and on schedule – Hold Beta Blockers 24hrs before the test (bring dose with you to take following test) – Hold Theo-Dur or any Theophylline-like drug 24hrs before the test (may use inhalers) – Hold Persantine (Dipyridamole) 24hrs before the test – Long Acting Persantine (Aggrenox) must be held for 3 days before the test. • Bring a list of all the medications you are currently taking • Need to wear comfortable clothes and walking shoes (Tennis shoes recommended, no flip-flops, sandals or clogs) • You will first be injected with a radioactive material that contains no medicine, followed approximately 1 hour later by your scan. Length of scan times varies from 12-20 minutes • You will be instructed by the Nuclear Tech to return to the office later for your stress test. Due to scheduling, the waiting times vary for each patient • Upon your return, you will complete the treadmill/chemical portion of your test. You will receive a second injection of radioactive material. A second scan will be performed. The length of scan time varies from 12-20 minutes. • The entire test will last approximately 5-6 hours Check with your physician about beta blockers or other medications. Visit stmarys.org for a partial listing of beta blockers and other medications. Results will be provided to the physician who ordered the test typically within 24 hours unless it’s performed prior to a weekend or holiday. test is scheduled between 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. After 3 p.m., please check in at the first floor registration desk.<br />
