Fall/ Winter 2012
I am pleased to serve as both your county commissioner and representative voice.
The Board of Commissioners encourages open communication with our constituents, and feedback and
public involvement at our meetings. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or suggestions on
how we can make Macomb County an even better place to live, learn, and do business. You will find my

Thank You Volunteers!
The Macomb County Board of Commissioners recognized
more than 60 of the county's most outstanding
volunteers for 2011 at a recent monthly Full
Board meeting.
Each spring, the Board puts out the call for volunteer
nominations and receives a large number of responses
from a variety of charitable organizations,
veterans groups, churches, schools, hospitals, senior
citizen facilities and more. The selected honorees
each donate at least 150 hours of his/her time to volunteering
in the previous calendar year, and are
either a Macomb County resident or performed volunteer
work which benefitted Macomb County's
citizens or the community.
Honorees from Commissioner Tocco's district who
were recognized for their volunteer work in 2011
included: Nancy Ehrke, Kathy Biondo, Kirsten
Blackburn, Angela Lempke, Rita Lentz, Barbara
Miglio and Amy Smalley.
Thank you all for your dedication, hard work and
generosity!

to begin exploring your options. There, you
will find everything from youth mentor volunteer
opportunities, to a call for crafters,
and requests for Meals on Wheels drivers.
Veterans Food Bank
is Here to Help
Help is readily available for honorably discharged
military veterans (or their dependents)
who may need food assistance. They
do not need to look any further than the
Macomb County Veterans Food Bank. The
food bank is located in Roseville, at 16945
12 Mile, (between Groesbeck and Utica
Roads). To learn more about the application
process, call (586) 776-9810. Active duty
military (or dependents) are also eligible.

About Commissioner Kathy Tocco
Commissioner Kathy Tocco represents
the residents of Fraser and Roseville in
District 11.
She was first elected to the Board of
Commissioners in November 2006, and
is now serving her third term.
Tocco is Chair of the Board of Commissioners
Board Operations Committee and also serves on the Economic
Development and Health and Human Services committees.
Tocco is an attorney and partner in the general practice law firm
Falk & Tocco, PC in Fraser. She has represented a wide variety of
individuals, companies and organizations, including the UAW
Legal Services Plan and indigent clients charged with misdemeanors.
She was employed by the Social Security Administration before
graduating from law school.
The Fraser Democrat is a member of the State Bar of Michigan,
the Family Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan, the Macomb
County Bar Association and the Macomb County Probate Bar
Association.
Tocco, 44, is a graduate of Warren Cousino High School. She has
a bachelor’s degree from the University of Detroit and a law
degree from Detroit College of Law.
Born in Detroit, Tocco has been a Fraser resident since the late
1980s. She and her husband Vincent have one son.
