First page, his victory in this year's World Championship in Suzuka (KSP). - You have been CRG official driver since 2009. Which are the most peculiar aspects of your collaboration? “I think my experience is very useful for the CRG racing team. Giancarlo Tinini (CRG president, A/N) still believes in me, and I think the results I've got so far are paying off. We have very strong kids in the team, but the fact that the team can count on my experience for the equipment setup is an 'added value' which gives advantages to the whole team. Moreover, a grown-up and experienced driver like me can administer a long race much better, and the experience counts a lot in the technical analysis we do in every race to develop a certain kind of work and to achieve our goals. I spent 17 years in Tony Kart, 2 years in Maranello and this is my fourth year in CRG: I think the experience I've got in karting is really important. Anyway, I owe much to Tinini: it is thanks to him if I'm still mentally strong today and able to battle for the World Championship."
- What has changed in these 30 years of karting? “There have been many changes. I've seen all kinds, shapes and sizes: from the years with the air-cooled 100 engine then water-cooled, the best period for karting because it was much followed and there were many skilled drivers, Italian talented drivers too, to the present time, where from the point of view of regulations they have changed all - and in my opinion things have got much worse, especially since the introduction of the KF engine. They have tried to enforce rule after rule, and the consequence is that driving a kart is getting simpler and simpler, which prevents veritable talents from growing up. But, above all, what really lacks today, at human level, are experienced people on the track whose experience can be a great example for the young talents. For me it was essential watching the skills of great drivers such as Danilo Rossi, or Jarno Trulli. On the other hand, nowadays, there are 15-year-old kids who think they are already first-rate drivers. I think it would be essential for young drivers to remain in karting for a longer time, because they need to get more experienced before passing to car-racing." - Last year, with CRG, you placed 3rd in the KZ1 World Championship in Genk, this year 2nd in the KZ1 European Championship of Wackersdorf and you even managed to win in Suzuka in the KF1 World Championship, where you're still aiming at the title... “As usual my goal is victory. Let's see what happens; for sure I'll do my best to grab my sixth World title, in Sarno or Macao."
