Merley Community Association Report
Welcome to the first edition of the
Merley Magpie for 2011. It has
now been ten years since our editor,
Peter Spedding, took over the
running of this local magazine and
to celebrate, the front cover has
been updated. Thank you Peter for
all the hard work (unpaid I might
add) that you have contributed
over the past decade.
I hope that everyone came through
the bad weather relatively unscathed.
I am pleased to confirm
that no problems were encountered
at the Community Centre,
apart from a very icy car park.
We had been able to have the
heaters repaired before the cold
weather hit us. The flooring in the
large hall had become damaged,
and a thank you to Derek Froud,
who came and repaired the floor at
short notice. The carpet in the
lounge has also been repaired.
Bookings for the two halls remain
buoyant, but don't forget the special
offer still available, whereby
the Large Hall can be hired for a
