Welcome to Mainau Island!
Luxuriant blossoms all year, a park with
trees around 150 years old, the Baroque
splendour of the castle, grounds and church
and the Mediterranean flair - this is Mainau,
the Flower Island in Lake Constance.
The island has been in the hands of our
family since 1853. Our father, Lennart
Count Bernadotte, was the son of Prince
Wilhelm of Sweden and Maria Pavlovna,
Grand Duchess of Russia. He turned the
overgrown park into a paradise of flowers
and plants and opened the island to the
public. Our mother, Sonja Countess Bernadotte,
was Mainau GmbH’s managing
director for decades and ran the business
in the sense of our father.

story if we listen very carefully - the
secrets and beauty of nature bewitch us.
We see such fleeting eerie scenes and our

We, the fifth generation of the family, now
steer the island’s destiny. And we strive to
provide a renewed oasis of natural beauty,
harmony and relaxation for visitors from

Coach driver’s voucher
Coach drivers (presenting a valid company
ID card) are entitled to a 10,– E voucher valid
for Mainau Island on the day of issue only. It
can be used in Mainau’s gastronomy or in
one of our souvenir shops.
Coach driver’s table
There is a separate table reserved for coach
drivers in the Schwedenschenke restaurant.

Partner cards are entitled to free admission
to the island.
Complimentary meal (complimentary rule)
If you have made a booking in one of our
restaurants, then we grant one complimentary
meal per 20 people.

Free parking in the coach park saves you

You have the opportunity to earn commission.
This can amount to 10% depending on the
number of tickets sold.
Mainau Partner Card
All online agencies receive Mainau partner
cards for employees (in possession of a valid
employee ID card or written confirmation
of employment from the company).
Administrators should register the individual
employees under “user administration”.
Register for the partner card during you
first visit to the island. The employees will
then automatically receive a card in their
name. This card entitles the holder to free
admission to the island, whether on business
or private visits, and to numerous benefits.
Please ensure that your employees carry
their partner cards with them!
Coach driver’s menu
In addition, for a special price of just 5,50 E,
they can choose one of five 3 course menus
including a soft drink and a cup of coffee.

Where does rubbish go?
Correct sorting and disposal of rubbish is
part of the concept of Mainau Island.
We have put up several rubbish recycling
collection points for this purpose; one of
which is situated at the coach park. We
kindly ask you first to separate the rubbish
collected in the coach and then to dispose of
it at the recycling collection point. Moreover,
you help to support our efforts by informing
your travel passengers about Mainau’s policy
of separating rubbish.

Mainau-Highlights 2013
Orchid Show
15 March to 5 May 2013
The annual orchid show in Mainau Island’s
Palm House, from March until May, is
one of the most significant in Europe.
This magnificent show starts off the Flower
Year attracting many visitors with its
beautiful display of orchid species including
rare wild orchids and also precious
varieties.
Tulips and Spring Flowers
April 2013
Mainau gardeners plant almost 400 different
types of tulips in the flowerbeds and
meadows each year. The long carpet of tulips
growing along the Spring Avenue is
truly a magnificent sight. Over a 100.000
tulip bulbs alone are planted each year in
the meadow on Mainau Island’s southern
flank.
The Count’s Island Festival
30 May to 2 June 2013
The Count’s Island Festival has become a
tradition on Mainau Island. The motto of
the 11th Count’s Island Festival is once
again ‘Stroll around-shop-enjoy’. International
exhibitors present accessories for
the home and garden and also lifestyle
and wellness products at stalls around the
castle and in the rose garden. The festival
programme includes a hat fashion show
and lots of entertainment for younger visitors.
Rose Blossoms and voting for
the Mainau Queen of Roses
7th to 23rd June 2013
During the rose month of June, more
than 1.200 varieties of the Queen of
Flowers bloom along the Wild and Bush
Rose Promenade and in the Italian Rose
Garden which was laid by Grand Duke
Friedrich I of Baden at the foot of the
castle in 1871. Vote for your favourite to
be crowned the Mainau Queen of Roses.
Dahlia Blossoms and voting for
the Mainau Queen of Dahlias
30 August to 6 October 2013
Over 12.000 dahlias in more than 250
different varieties provide a brilliant firework
of blossoms each year heralding the
arrival of autumn. Vote from 30 August
until 6 October for your favourite to be
crowned this year’s Mainau Queen of
Dahlias.

Nobless Oblige
3 to 6 October 2013
It’s ‘Noblesse Oblige’ at the Count’s
Castle Festival. Exclusive and exquisite
