V.A-9. Heat Exchanger Between the Receiver Fluid and the Storage Fluid-For<br />

current technology systems it may be desirable to have different types of fluids <strong>for</strong><br />

the receiver and <strong>for</strong> storage, since fluids which store energy well (e.g., molten ni-<br />

trate salt) may not absorb energy in a receiver as well as other fluids (e.g., liquid<br />

sodium). In this case, a separate heat exchanger is required as an interface be-<br />

tween the two fluids. The cost of that heat exchanger scales with thermal power<br />

at the base of the tower:<br />
