Whether to create an estate, save money or help loved ones after death, life insurance is important. Life Insurance creates an estate to help compensate for the death of the primary wage earner that will usually stop the flow of income to a family. Also financially devastating can be the death of a nonworking spouse who cares for minor children. Planning for survivor Photo by Jerry Jambazian Comfort Suites Rosemead, 9488 Valley Blvd., Rosemead, opened for business in 2007. The necessity of life insurance protection requires careful examination of current assets and liabilities as well as determining what survivors’ needs maybe. A person may create an estate through earnings, savings and investments over a period of time. However, all of these methods require disciplined action. If time is not available, they may all fail. The purchase of life insurance, in the event of death, creates an immediate estate. Estate creation is especially important for young families what are getting started and have not yet had time to accumulate assets. Tommy Low, insurance agent. When an insured person purchases a life insurance policy, he or she will have an estate of at least that amount the moment the first premium is paid. There is no other legal method whereby an immediate estate can be created at such a small cost. Life insurance proceeds may be used to accumulate specific amounts of funds for specific needs and guarantees that a specific amount will be available when needed. One of the essential differences between life insurance and other types of insurance is that life insurance also performs the function of accumulation. A permanent life insurance will have loan or surrender values that the policy owner may access. In the event the insured dies, the beneficiary will be provided with the immediate cash necessary to pay expenses associated with death. Life insurance proceeds may be used to pay state inheritance taxes and federal estate taxes so that it is not necessary to sell off assets from the estate to pay these costs.
