of Commerce, the American
help residents if and when a
large earthquake hits the San
Are you ready for a big earthquake?
Emergency planning seminars set for Oct. 15, 29
To create a cleaner environment for the community,
the Temple City Chamber of Commerce
is hosting an electronic waste (e-waste) collection
event on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 25-26, from
9 a.m. to 4 p.m., in the Chamber’s parking lot,
9050 Las Tunas Dr.
E-waste includes electronic products or devices,
such as computer monitors, televisions, PC
systems, printers, home entertainment systems,
copiers, and facsimile machines that have reached
their useful end, whether in working condition
or not.
The collection event is a free service to both
city residents and businesses to properly dispose
of unwanted electronic products.
Estimates are that 35 million pounds of e-waste
get prepared for a disaster.
The first of the two seminars
will take place at 7 p.m.
Wednesday, Oct. 15 at the
Temple City High School Media
Cross responds immediately to
more than 70,000 disasters, including
house or apartment
fires (the majority of disaster
responses), hurricanes, floods,
earthquakes, tornados, hazardous
material spills, transportation
accidents, explosion and
other natural and man-made
disasters.
Where to turn in old computers —
Chamber hosting e-waste collection, Oct. 25-26
are still sitting in California households and businesses.
Only 10-15% of e-waste is currently properly
dismantled or recycled. Electronic discards are
one of the fastest growing segments of our
nation’s waste stream.
About 70% of heavy metals and 40% of lead
contents found in today’s landfills are from ewaste.
The public invited to support a cleaner environment
by diverting e-waste away from the city
and landfills and move it to the appropriate recycling
process.
For more detailed information on the event
or qualified e-waste products, please contact the
