Carnival is Oct. 31
Temple City’s Halloween
Carnival will provide parents
with a safe, fun-filled alternative
to Trick-or-Treating at Live
Oak Park, Oct. 31, from 6:30 to
8:30 p.m., for a hauntingly good
time. All activities are free.

games, a bike raffle, tons
of candy, a magic show, petting

Free Flu Shots
available at Live
Oak Park
The Los Angeles County
Department of Public Health,
Monrovia Health Center in cooperation
with Temple City,
will offer free flu shots for all
ages (6 months of age and
older) on Saturday, November
20. Flu shots will be available
from 1:30 to 4 p.m. at the Live
Oak Park Community Center,
10144 Bogue St., Temple City.

along with HealthCare Partners
and LAC Department of Public
Health Monrovia Health Center
invite you to it’s Fourth Annual
Senior Health Fair. This event
will be held from 10 a.m. until
2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, at Live
Oak Park, 10144 Bogue St.,
Temple City. There will be free
health screening and visitors
will be able to meet HealthCare
Partners physicians. There will
also be free refreshments, prize
drawings and Going Green information.

Local artisans have reserved their space for the Craft Faire and will be
selling such items as hand made jewelry, floral arrangements, Halloween
and Christmas crafts, ceramics and more at the Craft Faire.
City sponsors Harvest Hoedown,
Craft Faire, performances Oct. 25
The City of Temple City and the Temple City Unified School
District Vocal and Theatre Arts Boosters have joined forces for this
year’s Harvest Hoedown and Craft Faire on Saturday, Oct. 25. The
Harvest Hoedown will take place at Temple City Park, located on
the corner of Las Tunas Drive and Golden West Avenue, from 10
a.m. to 4 p.m.
This fun-filled family day will include wonderful live entertainment
provided by the Temple City schools vocal arts groups, a variety
of food booths, craft fair, a silent auction and a collector car
show. Activities for children will include face painting, pumpkin
patch, Super Jump & Bounce, free crafts and more!
Local artisans have reserved their space for the Craft Faire and
will be selling such items as hand made jewelry, floral arrangements,
Halloween and Christmas crafts, ceramics and more. Applications
for craft booths are being accepted. The fee for a craft booth is $30
or $20 with a $10 silent auction item. All craft items must be handmade.
Deadline for entries is Oct. 10. All craft vendors will be assigned
a 10’ x 10’ space. Vendors must have a resale number through
the State Board of Equalization. Entry forms are available at City
Hall, 9701 Las Tunas Drive and online at www.templecity.us.

City Clerk announces March 2009 municipal election
The City will hold its next Municipal Election on March 4, 2009.
City Councilmembers are elected for four-year terms. The City staggers
the terms of its five City Councilmembers, with two terms
ending in 2009 and three terms ending in 2011. Councilmembers
whose terms are ending in March 2009 are: Mayor Cathé Wilson
and Councilmember Ken Gillanders.
To be eligible to run for office of City Council, one must be a
registered voter and resident of Temple City for at least one year
preceding the date of the election, and be nominated by qualified
voters of the city.
The filing period for City Council office begins November 10.

Homework Help Program for kids, Grades 1-6
The City of Temple City, Parks and Recreation Department is offering a free Homework
Help Program for children in the Grades 1 through 6. High school and college
volunteers will assist children with general homework assignments in a group setting.
Students are required to bring homework to each weekly session. Applications
are currently being accepted. Homework Help takes place on Wednesdays at City
Hall, 9701 Las Tunas Drive. Parents with a child that could benefit from this free
community program, should phone (626) 285-2171 ext. 2328 for a Homework Help
Application.
City announces holiday donation drives
Each holiday season, Temple City invites residents, youth and service organizations
to participate in two special Holiday Drives, Sock-O-Rama and More, and
Santa’s Claws and Paws. Donations of new men’s white socks, t-shirts, boxers and
new socks for women and children will benefit Sock-O-Rama and More. The San
Gabriel Valley Humane Society is the recipient of the Santa’s Claws and Paws Drive.
Donations of dry cat food and dog food, non-clumping cat litter, towels and thin
bed sheet will be appreciated.
Collection box locations are at City Hall, 9701 Las Tunas, at the Civic Center,
5938 Kauffman and at Live Oak Park Community Center, 10144 Bogue St.
Donations will be accepted beginning Oct. 1 through Dec. 15.
