The <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Temple</strong> <strong>City</strong> and <strong>the</strong> <strong>Temple</strong> <strong>City</strong> Unified School<br />
District Vocal and Theatre Arts Boosters have joined forces for this<br />
year’s Harvest Hoedown and Craft Faire on Saturday, Oct. 25. The<br />
Harvest Hoedown will take place at <strong>Temple</strong> <strong>City</strong> Park, located on<br />
<strong>the</strong> corner <strong>of</strong> Las Tunas Drive and Golden West Avenue, from 10<br />
a.m. to 4 p.m.<br />
This fun-filled family day will include wonderful live entertainment<br />
provided by <strong>the</strong> <strong>Temple</strong> <strong>City</strong> schools vocal arts groups, a variety<br />
<strong>of</strong> food booths, craft fair, a silent auction and a collector car<br />
show. Activities for children will include face painting, pumpkin<br />
patch, Super Jump & Bounce, free crafts and more!<br />
Local artisans have reserved <strong>the</strong>ir space for <strong>the</strong> Craft Faire and<br />
will be selling such items as hand made jewelry, floral arrangements,<br />
Halloween and Christmas crafts, ceramics and more. Applications<br />
for craft booths are being accepted. The fee for a craft booth is $30<br />
or $20 with a $10 silent auction item. All craft items must be handmade.<br />
Deadline for entries is Oct. 10. All craft vendors will be assigned<br />
a 10’ x 10’ space. Vendors must have a resale number through<br />
<strong>the</strong> State Board <strong>of</strong> Equalization. Entry forms are available at <strong>City</strong><br />

<strong>City</strong> Clerk announces March 2009 municipal election<br />
The <strong>City</strong> will hold its next Municipal Election on March 4, 2009.<br />
<strong>City</strong> Councilmembers are elected for four-year terms. The <strong>City</strong> staggers<br />
<strong>the</strong> terms <strong>of</strong> its five <strong>City</strong> Councilmembers, with two terms<br />
ending in 2009 and three terms ending in 2011. Councilmembers<br />
whose terms are ending in March 2009 are: Mayor Cathé Wilson<br />
and Councilmember Ken Gillanders.<br />
To be eligible to run for <strong>of</strong>fice <strong>of</strong> <strong>City</strong> Council, one must be a<br />
registered voter and resident <strong>of</strong> <strong>Temple</strong> <strong>City</strong> for at least one year<br />
preceding <strong>the</strong> date <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> election, and be nominated by qualified<br />
voters <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> city.<br />
The filing period for <strong>City</strong> Council <strong>of</strong>fice begins November 10.<br />

Homework Help Program for kids, Grades 1-6<br />
The <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Temple</strong> <strong>City</strong>, Parks and Recreation Department is <strong>of</strong>fering a free Homework<br />
Help Program for children in <strong>the</strong> Grades 1 through 6. High school and college<br />
volunteers will assist children with general homework assignments in a group setting.<br />
Students are required to bring homework to each weekly session. Applications<br />
are currently being accepted. Homework Help takes place on Wednesdays at <strong>City</strong><br />
Hall, 9701 Las Tunas Drive. Parents with a child that could benefit from this free<br />
community program, should phone (626) 285-2171 ext. 2328 for a Homework Help<br />
Application.<br />
<strong>City</strong> announces holiday donation drives<br />
Each holiday season, <strong>Temple</strong> <strong>City</strong> invites residents, youth and service organizations<br />
to participate in two special Holiday Drives, Sock-O-Rama and More, and<br />
Santa’s Claws and Paws. Donations <strong>of</strong> new men’s white socks, t-shirts, boxers and<br />
new socks for women and children will benefit Sock-O-Rama and More. The San<br />
Gabriel Valley Humane Society is <strong>the</strong> recipient <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Santa’s Claws and Paws Drive.<br />
Donations <strong>of</strong> dry cat food and dog food, non-clumping cat litter, towels and thin<br />
bed sheet will be appreciated.<br />
