Look for details in the November issue of Temple City Life. The Blue Star Banner Program thanks teacher Cindy Tom of Longden Elementary School for her support. She had her students create hand-made patriotic cards of thanks to our troops. Letters are greatly appreciated by our troops and are enclosed in the packages Sharon Johnson sends to our military personnel on active duty around the world. Often Sharon receives letters of thanks back from these soldiers thanking her for remembering them with goodies and letters of support. The last performance of the Temple City Concerts in the Park has taken place. Over the summer, the Blue Star Banner team sold ice cream, sundaes and nachos and set up displays of letters from the troops and hosted a table where the public could create letters to soldiers, sailors and Marines. A similar letters table will be set up at the www.templecitychamber.org Photo by Jerry Jambazian These U.S. military members attended the Blue Star Dinner in November of 2006. All military personnel and veterans from Temple City are invited to the next dinner at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 7. Next Blue Star Program Dinner, Nov. 7 Remembering those who protect us 24/7/365 Temple City Craft Faire, Oct. 25. It was at one of these music concerts that the Blue Star team received a generous $200 donation. Donations are greatly appreciated. The success of the Blue Star Banner Program depends upon the hard work of the Blue Star team and the generosity of the community. The team thanks everone for all the support. Let our banners be acknowledged for the individuals they represent and for their commitment to protect and serve. May we in turn continue to provide and serve those brave military personnel who are from Temple City or related to someone who is a resident.

In Chinese medical theory, the body’s energy manufacturing centers are influenced using certain movements, improving the body’s ability to fend off disease. Taking care of ones’ self is a full-time occupation. You can start by simply sitting down, taking a few deep breaths and relaxing your body. Sit quietly for a few minutes, and begin noticing surrounding sounds, smells, sights and sensations. Try relaxing your body further concentrating on a very happy thought. Smile and enjoy the feelings. Then think about being healthy and active. Reorient yourself to the environment and see if things appear differently. Try doing this for two weeks and see if it makes a difference in how you feel or act. If it makes you feel better, pass the word on to a friend.
