Expression <strong>of</strong> Self-Esteem <strong>and</strong> Aggression by Adolescent Judo Athletes<br />

Contemporary society witnesses the growth <strong>of</strong> the negative phenomena, which are <strong>of</strong>ten<br />

determined by an individual\'s relations with other persons, an inadequate self-esteem, lack <strong>of</strong><br />

self-confidence, etc. <strong>Sport</strong> activity, continuous occupation good mutual team relations may<br />

affect an individual\'s emotional <strong>and</strong> psychological determination, stimulate activity, personal<br />

competences <strong>and</strong> inspiration for self-education.<br />

Research tasks: to determine <strong>and</strong> compare the expression <strong>of</strong> aggression <strong>and</strong> self-esteem<br />

among the adolescent judo athletes <strong>and</strong> non-athlete adolescents; to explore the relationship<br />

between aggression <strong>and</strong> self-esteem with the achieved sport results.<br />

Research sample: 48 respondents who practiced judo <strong>and</strong> 48 persons <strong>of</strong> the control group.<br />

Testing was carried out among 12-16 year old girls n=42 (37.5%) <strong>and</strong> boys n=70 (62.5 %).<br />

There were more boys among the judo athletes than among the non-athletes — 76.8 % <strong>and</strong><br />

48.2 % respectively (χ2=9.75; df=1; p
