of a good-sized city. At
the “zoo” (the Las Vegas
Convention Center, where
the biggest commercial
action takes place), smaller
booths are easily overlooked
even by visitors
who, like me, are diligent
about doing every aisle.
If you’ve never been to a
show like CES, you can’t
imagine its scope. So how
do you get noticed? That’s
where the evening events
come in.
And some exhibitors put
a lot of money into those
evening presentations.
own readers, we’ve added
a computer to our Omega
reference system, which
serves instead of a CD
player (it actually sounds
superior, as we’ve detailed
elsewhere in this issue).
Often that computer is the
small and silent Mac mini.
The mini no longer packs
an optical drive, however.
The MiniStack Max fits
under and over it, offering
the optical drive, extra
hard drive space, and even a slot for an SD camera card. But the device is still not
on the OWC site, and probably won’t arrive until late Summer.
My attention was also grabbed by Mikey (at right), from BlueMic. It’s the first
stereo recording microphone for iPhone, recent iPod touches and iPads. It fits in
the dock connector, and the free recording software has a helpful upside-down
screen. But like the MiniStack, it’s not yet available either.
