WOOD<br />

Wood is a building material made from trees. It is a natural polymer composed of<br />

cells in the shape of long, thin tubes with tapered ends. The cell wall consists of<br />

cellulose crystals, which are bonded together by a complex amorphous lignin composed<br />

of carbohydrates. Most of the cells in a tree trunk are oriented vertically.<br />
