Main Street * 756-3215 * email brref@esls.lib.wi.us Our Mission The Brillion Public Library strives to improve the community life by providing free and equal access to information, ideas and knowledge through books, programs, and other resources. Library Hours Regular Hours (Labor Day through June 1st) Mondays 8-8; Tuesdays 9-8; Wed-Thurs-Friday 12 noon-8 p.m. Saturdays from 9 a.m. until 12 noon Watch for special holiday hours! Library Fund Raising Campaign Take Us to the Top! Help us raise $100,000 for the Library's elevator! Contributions toward the elevator project may be dropped off, or mailed to the Library or dropped off at the Best Advantage Credit Union. For those who donate $100 or more, the Library will place your name on a plaque of donors which will be placed in the elevator lobby. The plaque will list 4 levels of donors: $100, $500, $1000 and $5000. Help Take Us to the Top! The Brillion Community Center has direction. At a special City Council meeting on August 24 th the council gave direction to the Park and Rec Commission to proceed with a business plan the commission created. The plan calls for updating the facility to increase the usage and ultimately reducing the tax rate. To accomplish this, the Commis- Elevator Project Update Construction on the elevator project is moving forward and expected to be completed by the middle of November. Please pardon the inconvenience, the noise and the dirt while this project is going on. I am sure you will be pleased with the results and the much improved access to the basement meeting area. Homebound? Are you homebound and living in the City of Brillion? You can get Library materials delivered to your home with a simple call to the Library at 756-3215. You can receive Library materials even if your disability is temporary. Friends Silent Auction The Friends will be holding another silent auction with book-based baskets. The auction will take place the week of November 27-December 1st with final bidding ending at 6 p.m. Get an early start on your holiday gift giving by taking part in this fund raiser. Stop in during Library hours and place your bid. Open House The Brillion Library will be holding an Open House on Friday, December 1st from 3-7 p.m. Stop in and view the new elevator and enjoy refreshments furnished by the Friends. Don't sion will recommend to the Council a group of dedicated people who will form a Community Center Foundation and fundraise for the necessary funds to update the facility. We’re not talking about brat fry’s and car washes, this plan calls for corporate sponsorships, naming out different venues of the facility and an aggressive grant writing campaign to complete the goal. In a nutshell we’re looking at keeping the current services, expand- forget to take part in the silent auction! Ask?Away 24/7 reference Through the Library web site, you can get answers from Librarians any time of the day using an online chat form. You can also submit questions by email that will be answered during Library business hours. To access Ask?Away, click on the icon on the website and start asking away. Mitten Tree Project The Brillion Library will be again sponsoring a Mitten Tree. The public is invited to drop off new mittens, gloves, caps, scarves, and hats at the Library between October 15th and December 8th. All donated items will be distributed to the needy of the area. The Library is also offering the public the opportunity to upgrade to the new System Library card with a donation to the Mitten Tree project. � Parks, Recreation & Aquatics Brillion Community Center * 120 Center Street * 756-3216 ing on those services, looking for funds other than tax dollars to update the facility and ultimately reduce the tax subsidy to the Center. The new Foundation will have it’s work cut out for them, it will be a challenge to raise the funds necessary to remodel the Center, however it can be done. If anyone has information on this please contact the Brillion Police Department. Save time and gas and sign up online!! Remember you can easily sign up for most BCC programs online at www.activityreg.com! The BCC is your American Red Cross Certification Headquarters!! The BCC is proud to be an authorized provider of American Rec Cross Program- Emergency Services: Police * Fire * Ambulance 130 Calumet Street * for emergencies dial 911 Placing snow on streets Don’t plow or blow snow into the street – If you must place snow into the street during snow storm clean up, you must immediately remove it from the street before completion of your snow removal operations. Ice and Snow removal from public walks Residents have 24 hours to remove snow and ice from public sidewalks after a snowfall. After that time, City crews can be dispatched to remove snow and ice and any costs will be passed on to property owners for the removal. Notices are usually given in these matters but that is not a guarantee. Snowmobile operation Police have noticed that snowmobile users are not following rules while operating snowmobiles in the City. The Police want everyone to enjoy snowmobiling and we don’t want to loose our privileges to operate on City streets. Anyone caught failing to follow the rules for operation on city streets can be issued a cita- ming. We have instructors in ALL levels of CPR, First Aid, Lifeguarding, Oxygen Administration, AED (Automated External Defibrillation), Water Safety Instructor, Preventing Disease Transmission AND MORE!!! Gift certificates can be purchased for any dollar amount and can be used towards memberships, activities, merchandise or room Winter Reminders tion for improper operation and receive a fine. 1. Snowmobiles may only be operated within City limits when the adjacent Calumet County trail is open for public use. 2. Snowmobiles may not be operated on City property, parks or cemeteries 3. Snowmobiles may not be operated upon private property, other than the owner’s property, without prior authorization. 4. Snowmobiles may not be operated on top of snow banks next to the street or the area between the street and sidewalk. 5. Snowmobiles may not be operated lengthwise on Main St./Hwy-PP or lengthwise on Ryan St./ Hwy-10. (You may cross either main St. or Hwy-10) When crossing non operation streets, snowmobiles must operate directly across the intersecting street and may not cross on an angle to connect to a misaligned street Frozen Furnace exhaust Residents should check all furnace vents. Deep freeze can cause your furnace vents to freeze creating a serious carbon monoxide danger in your home. Frozen vents can also rentals at the BCC. Police will also be monitoring to try to help locate some of these problems Winter Parking Ban The City’s Winter Parking Ban takes effect November 15 th through the 1 st of April. The ban is effective from 1am to 6am in which time there is no parking on any City street. If special permission is needed for parking during the Winter Parking Ban hours, you must call the Police Department for prior authorization daily. No permission for parking will be given during a snow emergency. �
