3.13 AICA Education (Australia)<br />
Introduction<br />
This course will equip students with the knowledge and skills to work as a dental<br />
technician. Units include how to design, construct, modify and repair dental prostheses<br />
and appliances including dentures, bridges, crowns and mouthguards. Students will<br />
also learn business skills designed to assist them in managing their own business.<br />
Pathways<br />
Currently t<strong>here</strong> is high demand for trained professionals in this area. Dental technicians<br />
need to be licensed to work in Australia and students can contact the relevant licensing<br />
body in each state. Graduates can continue on to complete the Advanced Diploma of<br />
Dental Technology or Bachelor of Oral Health in Dental Technology.<br />
Part-Time Work Opportunities<br />
Students can take up part-time jobs up to 20 hours per week to support their studies.<br />
