49 registration is required, in making up the new registry lists from the<br />

50 poll books, and such affidavit shall serve as the registration record <strong>of</strong><br />

51 the voter for the new registry books and lists.<br />

52 If the ballot is rejected and the vote <strong>of</strong> the absent or disabled<br />

53 voter not accepted or counted as provided herein, said ballot envelope<br />

54 with the affidavit <strong>of</strong> the absent or disabled voter indorsed thereon<br />

55 shall be returned with said rejected ballot in the envelope indorsed<br />

56 "Defective ballots".<br />

CHAPTER 10.<br />

PRESIDENTIAL ELECTORS.<br />

SECTION 535. Election—canvass.<br />

1 At the general election in the years <strong>of</strong> the presidential election,<br />

2 or at such other times as the congress <strong>of</strong> the United <strong>State</strong>s may direct,<br />

3 there shall be elected by the electors <strong>of</strong> the state one person from<br />

4 each congressional district into which the state is divided, as elector<br />

5 <strong>of</strong> president and vice president, and two from the state at large, no<br />

6 one <strong>of</strong> whom shall be a person holding the <strong>of</strong>fice <strong>of</strong> senator or repre-<br />

7 sentative in congress, or any <strong>of</strong>fice <strong>of</strong> trust or pr<strong>of</strong>it under the United<br />

8 <strong>State</strong>s.<br />

9 Each elector <strong>of</strong> each congressional district and each elector, at<br />

10 large nominated by any party or group <strong>of</strong> petitioners shall receive the<br />

11 combined vote <strong>of</strong> the electors <strong>of</strong> the state for the candidates for presi-<br />

12 dent and vice president <strong>of</strong> such party or group <strong>of</strong> petitioners, and a<br />

13 vote cast for the candidates for president and vice president <strong>of</strong> the<br />

14 United <strong>State</strong>s shall be the votes <strong>of</strong> the voter for the electors <strong>of</strong> the re-<br />

15 spective party or group <strong>of</strong> petitioners.<br />

16 The canvass <strong>of</strong> the votes for candidates for president and vice<br />

17 president <strong>of</strong> the United <strong>State</strong>s and the returns there<strong>of</strong> shall be a can-<br />

18 vass and return <strong>of</strong> the votes cast for the electors <strong>of</strong> the same party<br />

19 or group <strong>of</strong> petitioners respectively, and the certificate <strong>of</strong> such election<br />

20 made by the governor shall be in accord with such return.<br />

CHAPTER 11.<br />

STATEMENT OF EXPENSES.<br />

SECTION 540. <strong>State</strong>ment <strong>of</strong> election expenses — limitation on<br />

expenses.<br />

Every candidate for any <strong>of</strong>fice to be voted for at any primary,<br />

municipal or general election shall, within ten days after the holding<br />

<strong>of</strong> such primary, municipal or general election, file a true, correct,<br />

detailed, sworn statement showing each and all sums <strong>of</strong> money or
