108 as to distinguish the said ballots from the <strong>of</strong>ficial ballot for candi-<br />

109 dates for <strong>of</strong>fice, and a facsimile <strong>of</strong> the signature <strong>of</strong> the auditor or<br />

110 other <strong>of</strong>ficer who has caused the ballot to be printed. Such ballots<br />

111 shall be indorsed and given to each voter by the judges <strong>of</strong> election,<br />

112 as provided in section four hundred forty-four <strong>of</strong> the compiled code,<br />

113 and shall be subject to all other laws governing ballots for candidates,<br />

114 so far as the same shall be applicable.<br />

SEC. 451. Voting by women.<br />

1 At all elections where women may vote, no registration <strong>of</strong> women<br />

2 shall be required; separate ballots shall be furnished for the question<br />

3 on which they are entitled to vote ; a separate ballot box shall be pro-<br />

4 vided in which all ballots cast by them shall be deposited, and a sep-<br />

5 arate canvass there<strong>of</strong> made by the judges <strong>of</strong> the election, and the<br />

6 returns there<strong>of</strong> shall show such vote. The right <strong>of</strong> any citizen to vote<br />

7 at any city, town or school election, on the question <strong>of</strong> issuing any<br />

8 bonds for municipal or school purposes, and for the purpose <strong>of</strong> bor-<br />

9 rowing money, or on the question <strong>of</strong> increasing the tax levy, shall not<br />

10 be denied or abridged on account <strong>of</strong> sex.<br />

CHAPTER 7-A.<br />

DOUBLE ELECTION BOARDS.<br />

SECTION 499-al. Counting board.<br />

1 In all election precincts in <strong>Iowa</strong> where three hundred or more<br />

2 votes were cast in the last preceding general election, the board <strong>of</strong><br />

3 supervisors may appoint for each primary and general election three<br />

4 additional judges and two additional clerks to be known as the election<br />

5 counting board. Each <strong>of</strong> such appointees shall be <strong>of</strong> good moral<br />

6 character, well informed, able to read, write and speak the English<br />

7 language, shall be a voter in the election precinct in which he is to serve<br />

8 and entitled to vote therein.<br />

SEC. 499-a2. Receiving board—selection <strong>of</strong> counting board.<br />

1 The judges and clerks <strong>of</strong> election as provided in existing law<br />

2 shall be known as the receiving board and it shall be their duty to<br />

3 supervise the casting <strong>of</strong> ballots at said election, and the judges and<br />

4 clerks provided for in the preceding section shall be known as the<br />

5 counting board.<br />

6 The counting board shall be chosen from the two political parties<br />

7 casting the highest number <strong>of</strong> votes at the last general election. Not<br />

8 more than two judges nor more than one clerk shall belong to the same<br />

9 political organization, provided that two <strong>of</strong> such judges shall be chosen<br />

10 from the political party casting the highest number <strong>of</strong> votes at the<br />

11 last preceding general election. The receiving board shall perform
