SEC. 331. Service badges.<br />

The adjutant general from the available funds at his disposal<br />

shall procure and issue to the <strong>of</strong>ficers and men <strong>of</strong> the guard entitled<br />

thereto, service badges according to the design and pattern there<strong>of</strong><br />

as may be determined upon by the adjutant general and kept on file<br />

at the <strong>of</strong>fice <strong>of</strong> the adjutant general. Members <strong>of</strong> the guard who by<br />

order <strong>of</strong> the president serve in federal forces during a national emergency<br />

shall be entitled to count the period <strong>of</strong> such federal service<br />

toward the procurement <strong>of</strong> a service badge.<br />

SEC. 335. Building and camp ground improvements—salvage—<br />

improvement fund.<br />

1 The governor is authorized to expend from, the funds appro-<br />

2 priated for the support and maintenance <strong>of</strong> the guard such amounts<br />

3 as may be necessary in the purchase <strong>of</strong> additional land, erection <strong>of</strong><br />

4 buildings and other improvements on the permanent camp grounds<br />

5 and rifle ranges purchased by the state for the use <strong>of</strong> the guard, or<br />

6 purchased by the United <strong>State</strong>s for the use <strong>of</strong> the guard <strong>of</strong> this state,<br />

7 when in his judgment such buildings and improvements will be for<br />

8 the permanent good <strong>of</strong> the guard.<br />

9 Funds derived from the sale <strong>of</strong> salvage from the permanent camp<br />

10 grounds and rifle ranges <strong>of</strong> the guard shall be deposited with the treas-<br />

11 urer <strong>of</strong> state to the credit <strong>of</strong> a fund to be known as the permanent<br />

12 improvement fund and such fund shall only be expended for the<br />

13 improvement <strong>of</strong> the permanent camp grounds and rifle ranges <strong>of</strong> the<br />

14 guard upon order <strong>of</strong> the executive council <strong>of</strong> the state <strong>of</strong> <strong>Iowa</strong>.<br />

- SEC 336. Appropriation—certification and audit <strong>of</strong> claims.<br />

1 There is appropriated out <strong>of</strong> any moneys in the treasury not<br />

2 otherwise appropriated the sum <strong>of</strong> two hundred sixty-five thousand<br />

3 dollars per annum, or so much there<strong>of</strong> as may be necessary, for the<br />

4 support <strong>of</strong> the guard under the provisions <strong>of</strong> this chapter not applying<br />

5 to active service, which shall be drawn by a warrant, drawn by the<br />

6 auditor <strong>of</strong> state on the state treasurer, upon the certificate <strong>of</strong> the<br />

7 adjutant general approved by the governor and checked by the state<br />

8 board <strong>of</strong> audit, showing for what purpose each draft is to be or has<br />

9 been used, and no indebtedness shall be created in excess <strong>of</strong> such annual<br />

10 appropriation.<br />
