§§ 322-al-324. MILITARY <strong>CODE</strong>. Tit. Ill, Ch.l.<br />

SEC. 322-al. Armory board—tenure—duties—payment <strong>of</strong> allowances.<br />

1 The governor shall appoint an armory board which shall consist<br />

2 <strong>of</strong> the adjutant general and four other <strong>of</strong>ficers from the active, reserve,<br />

3 or retired commissioned personnel <strong>of</strong> the guard. The board shall meet<br />

4 at such times and places as are ordered by the governor. The four<br />

5 <strong>of</strong>ficers so appointed shall serve at the pleasure <strong>of</strong> the governor.<br />

6 The board shall for each unit <strong>of</strong> the guard fix the rent allowances<br />

7 to be paid by the state for other than state owned armories and shall<br />

8 acquire, contract, erect, purchase, sell, maintain, repair, and alter state<br />

9 owned armories subject to the laws made and provided therefor.<br />

10 The board shall fix the amount to be paid to commanding <strong>of</strong>ficers<br />

11 <strong>of</strong> each division, brigade, regiment, battalion, squadron, battery, troop,<br />

12 company or other units <strong>of</strong> the guard for headquarters expenses and<br />

13 shall provide by regulations how the same shall be disbursed by such<br />

14 commanding <strong>of</strong>ficers. The actions <strong>of</strong> the armory board shall be sub-<br />

15 ject to the approval <strong>of</strong> the governor.<br />

16 The allowances made by the armory board shall, when approved<br />

17 by the governor, be paid from the funds appropriated for the support<br />

18 and maintenance <strong>of</strong> the guard.<br />

SEC. 323. Rifle ranges—appropriation.<br />

1 The governor may designate the location <strong>of</strong> four regimental rifle<br />

2 ranges, and the expenditure <strong>of</strong> the sum <strong>of</strong> five thousand dollars or so<br />

3 much there<strong>of</strong> as may be necessary, is hereby allowed for the acquisi-<br />

4 tion and construction <strong>of</strong> each <strong>of</strong> such ranges.<br />

5 The sum <strong>of</strong> six hundred dollars or so much there<strong>of</strong> as is necessary,<br />

6 is hereby allowed annually for the rental and maintenance <strong>of</strong> each <strong>of</strong><br />

7 said ranges.<br />

8 The sum <strong>of</strong> three hundred dollars or so much there<strong>of</strong> as is neces-<br />

9 sary is hereby allowed to each battery, troop, company or other unit<br />

10 <strong>of</strong> the guard for the procurement, construction and maintenance <strong>of</strong> a<br />

11 rifle range. The payments herein provided to be made when sufficient<br />

12 funds are available beyond other requirements <strong>of</strong> this chapter and<br />

13 when approved by the governor.<br />

SEC. 324. Allowance for drill—expenditure.<br />

1 Each battery, troop, company or other unit <strong>of</strong> the guard showing<br />

2 attendance and actual drill <strong>of</strong> those present for one and one-half hours<br />

3 each week shall be allowed semiannually for miscellaneous military<br />

4 purposes, the sum <strong>of</strong> four dollars per capita, based on the average<br />

5 enlisted strength during such semiannual period, but when the average<br />

6 attendance during any semiannual period falls below fifty per cent <strong>of</strong><br />

7 the average enlisted strength in that period, then and in that event,<br />

8 such organization shall forfeit all right or claim to any such allowance.<br />

9 The semiannual period herein referred to shall begin January first<br />

10 and July first. The governor shall prescribe regulations governing<br />

11 the payment by the state and the expenditure by the unit <strong>of</strong> this allow-<br />

12 anee and when the allowances by the state have been approved by him
