CHAPTER 2.<br />

MECHANIC'S LIEN.<br />

SECTION 6522. Limitation on action.<br />

1 Actions to enforce a mechanic's lien may be brought within two<br />

2 years from the expiration <strong>of</strong> the sixty or ninety days, as the case may<br />

3 be, for filing the claim as provided in the law relative to mechanics'<br />

4 liens and not afterwards.<br />

CHAPTER 4.<br />

HOTEL AND INN KEEPERS' LIEN.<br />

SECTION 6525. Hotel and inn keepers—liability—lien—satisfaction<br />

by sale—proceeds—deposit <strong>of</strong> surplus.<br />

1 Keepers <strong>of</strong> hotels, inns, eating houses and steamboat owners, who<br />

2 constantly have in their hotel, inn, eating house or steamboat, a metal<br />

3 safe, or vault in good order and fit for the custody <strong>of</strong> money, jewelry,<br />

4 articles <strong>of</strong> gold or silver manufacture, precious stones, personal orna-<br />

5 ments, documents <strong>of</strong> all kinds, and other similar property, and who<br />

6 keeps on the door <strong>of</strong> the sleeping rooms used by guests suitable locks<br />

7 or bolts and proper fastenings on the transoms and windows <strong>of</strong> said<br />

8 rooms, and keeps posted up in a conspicuous place in the <strong>of</strong>fice or other<br />

9 public room in the guest's apartment therein, printed notices, stating<br />

10 that such places for safe deposit are provided for the use and accom-<br />

11 modation <strong>of</strong> the inmates there<strong>of</strong>, shall not be liable for the loss or in-<br />

12 jury suffered by any guest, in an amount to exceed one hundred dollars,<br />

13 unless said guest has <strong>of</strong>fered to deliver such valuables to said hotel, inn,<br />

14 eating house, or steamboat keeper for custody in such metal safe or<br />

15 vault, and said hotel, inn, eating house, or steamboat keeper has<br />

16 omitted or refused to take and deposit same in such safe or vault and<br />

17 give such guest a receipt therefor. Provided, however, that the keeper<br />

18 <strong>of</strong> any hotel, inn, eating house, or steamboat shall not be required to<br />

19 receive from any one guest for deposit in such safe or vault any prop-<br />

20 erty exceeding the market value <strong>of</strong> five hundred dollars.<br />

21 The liability <strong>of</strong> the keeper <strong>of</strong> any hotel, inn, eating house or steam-<br />

22 boat, for loss <strong>of</strong> or injury to personal property placed by his guests<br />

23 under his care, other than that described in the preceding paragraph,
