SEC. 5044. Office.<br />

1 The board shall keep an <strong>of</strong>fice in the capitol at the seat <strong>of</strong> govern-<br />

2 ment.<br />

SEC. 5044-al. Appropriation.<br />

1 There is hereby appropriated out <strong>of</strong> the funds in the state treas-<br />

2 ury, not otherwise appropriated, the sum <strong>of</strong> thirty thousand dollars<br />

3 annually, or so much there<strong>of</strong> as may be necessary, the same to be ex-<br />

4 pended by the state railroad commission in the preparation and sub-<br />

5 mission <strong>of</strong> cases involving interstate rates or services affecting <strong>Iowa</strong>,<br />

6 and in the investigation and determination <strong>of</strong> all cases within its<br />

7 jurisdiction, and to defray the general expenses <strong>of</strong> the administration<br />

8 <strong>of</strong> the duties <strong>of</strong> the state railroad commission.<br />

CHAPTER 2.<br />

COMMERCE COUNSEL.<br />

SECTION 5047. Office—expenses.<br />

1 Said commerce counsel shall have his <strong>of</strong>fice in the quarters as-<br />

2 signed to the board <strong>of</strong> railroad commissioners and he shall have free<br />

3 access to all the files, documents, reports and papers in said <strong>of</strong>fices.<br />

4 The commerce counsel and other necessary agents and experts shall<br />

5 have reimbursed to them all the actual and necessary traveling, and<br />

6 all other expenses and disbursements incurred or made by him in the<br />

7 discharge <strong>of</strong> his <strong>of</strong>ficial duties, such expenditures to be approved by<br />

8 the board <strong>of</strong> railroad commissioners, and paid out <strong>of</strong> such funds as<br />

9 shall be appropriated for said purpose by the general assembly.<br />

SECTION 5079. Interlocking switches.<br />

SEC. 6079-al. Interlocking switches—approval <strong>of</strong> plans.<br />

1 When in any case two or more railroads cross each other at a<br />

2 common grade, or a railroad crosses a stream by swing or draw bridge,<br />

3 they may be equipped thereat with an interlocking switch system, or
