6 used for the sole and only purpose <strong>of</strong> grading, road building, building<br />

7 retaining walls, or riprap along watercourses and otherwise perma-<br />

8 nently improving by the construction <strong>of</strong> buildings in public parks any<br />

9 and all lands theret<strong>of</strong>ore acquired for park purposes or improving any<br />

10 driveway or boulevard connecting one park with another.<br />

SEC. 3669. Additional tax levy in certain cities—election required.<br />

1 In cities having a population <strong>of</strong> over twenty-five hundred, said<br />

2 board is further authorized to submit to the electors <strong>of</strong> any such city,<br />

3 voting at a city or special election, called for that purpose, the ques-<br />

4 tion <strong>of</strong> the levy <strong>of</strong> a further additional tax for park purposes, not to<br />

5 exceed five mills on the dollar on all taxable property <strong>of</strong> the city over<br />

6 any term <strong>of</strong> years not exceeding thirty, to be used for the sole and<br />

7 only purpose <strong>of</strong> purchasing and paying for real estate and permanently<br />

8 improving the same for park purposes.<br />

SEC. 8684. Meandered lake—tax to improve.<br />

1 . Where any city has, prior to July first, eighteen hundred eighty,<br />

2 received a grant <strong>of</strong> the title from the United <strong>State</strong>s to a meandered<br />

3 lake within its corporate limits, to be held and used for public uses,<br />

4 recreation and park purposes, and where such city has for more than<br />

5 twenty years devoted the same to the public use, recreation and park<br />

6 purposes, its board <strong>of</strong> park commissioners is authorized in the discre-<br />

7 tion <strong>of</strong> said board to certify to the county auditor and cause to be col-<br />

8 lected an additional tax <strong>of</strong> not exceeding one mill each year for<br />

9 the years nineteen hundred sixteen, nineteen hundred seventeen, nine-<br />

10 teen hundred eighteen, nineteen hundred nineteen, nineteen hun-<br />

11 dred twenty, nineteen hundred twenty-one, nineteen hundred twenty-<br />

12 two, nineteen hundred twenty-three, nineteen hundred twenty-four<br />

13 and nineteen hundred twenty-five, to be used for the sole and only<br />

14 purpose <strong>of</strong> improving such lake by dredging or otherwise deepening<br />

15 the same, constructing dikes and levees for the protection <strong>of</strong> the same<br />

16 and for changing the form and size there<strong>of</strong> and for the regulation,<br />

17 control and improvement <strong>of</strong> the water supply and for the improve-<br />

18 ment and beautifying <strong>of</strong> such lake, the park land surrounding the<br />

19 same and for the furnishing <strong>of</strong> suitable equipment there<strong>of</strong> for public<br />

20 use and pleasure.<br />

1 Cities having a population <strong>of</strong> not over forty thousand and towns<br />

2 may, when authorized as hereinafter provided, levy each year a tax <strong>of</strong><br />
