CHAPTER 14.<br />

COUNTY PUBLIC HOSPITALS.<br />

SECTÏON 3318. Annual levy for improvement and maintenance.<br />

1 In counties exercising the rights conferred by this chapter, the<br />

2 board <strong>of</strong> trustees <strong>of</strong> said hospital shall, at its regular August meeting<br />

3 each year, determine and fix the amount necessary for the improve-<br />

4 ment and maintenance <strong>of</strong> any such public hospital so established, dur-<br />

5 ing the ensuing year, in addition to the tax for the hospital fund here-<br />

6 inbefore provided for, and the president and secretary <strong>of</strong> the board<br />

7 shall certify the same to the auditor <strong>of</strong> such county before September<br />

8 first <strong>of</strong> each year ; and the board <strong>of</strong> supervisors <strong>of</strong> said county shall,<br />

9 at its September session following, levy a sufficient tax upon the as-<br />

10 sessed value <strong>of</strong> the taxable property in the county as will produce said<br />

11 sum for the ensuing year, but said levy shall not exceed two mills on<br />

12 such assessed valuation.<br />

SEC. 3327-al. County wards in public or private hospitals.<br />

1 The board <strong>of</strong> supervisors <strong>of</strong> any county in which no county hospi-<br />

2 tal has been established may in its discretion establish one or more<br />

3 wards in any public or private hospital situated in the county for the<br />

4 use <strong>of</strong> the county under such regulations as may be agreed upon with<br />

5 the board having such hospital in charge. For such purpose the board<br />

6 <strong>of</strong> supervisors may levy a tax <strong>of</strong> not to exceed one-half <strong>of</strong> one mill on<br />

7 the dollar <strong>of</strong> the taxable property within the county.<br />

SEC. 3327-a2. Persons entitled to occupy county wards.<br />

1 All questions as to the character <strong>of</strong> patients who shall occupy said<br />

2 wards so established and all rules relating to the occupancy there<strong>of</strong><br />

3 shall be determined by the board <strong>of</strong> supervisors in the same manner and<br />

4 with the same force and effect as in the case <strong>of</strong> patients assigned to<br />

5 the county hospital in counties having such.<br />

CHAPTER 16.<br />

SOLDIERS' RELIEF, MEMORIAL HALLS AND MONUMENTS.<br />

SECTION 3352. Vacancies—various ways for filling.<br />

1 If, for any reason, the grand army posts <strong>of</strong> the county fail to<br />

2 select a member or members <strong>of</strong> such committee to fill any vacancy oc-<br />

3 curring therein, within six months after a vacancy occurs, then the<br />

4 Spanish-American war veterans' association shall appoint a member<br />

5 or members to fill any existing vacancies upon such committee from<br />

6 their association and in any case where the Spanish-American war<br />

7 veterans' association fail within one year after vacancy occurs to<br />

8 assume the duty <strong>of</strong> filling vacancies upon such committee, the Ameri-
