11 exceeding five dollars for each person <strong>of</strong> school age for transporting<br />

12 children to and from school; also such additional sum as may be au-<br />

13 thorized in section twenty-six hundred ninety-five <strong>of</strong> the compiled code.<br />

14 No tax shall be estimated by the board after the third Monday in<br />

15 August in each year.<br />

16 School corporations containing territory in adjoining counties<br />

17 may vote and estimate all taxes for school purposes in mills.<br />

18 The board shall apportion any tax voted by the annual meeting<br />

19 for schoolhouse fund among the several subdistricts in such a manner<br />

20 as justice and equity may require, taking as the basis <strong>of</strong> such apportion-<br />

21 ment the respective amounts previously levied upon said subdistricts<br />

22 for the use <strong>of</strong> such fund.<br />

23 The board <strong>of</strong> directors <strong>of</strong> any school corporation in which there<br />

24 is no free public library shall have power to contract with any free pub-<br />

25 lie library for the free use <strong>of</strong> such library by the residents <strong>of</strong> such<br />

26 school district as provided in section thirty-seven hundred fifty-two<br />

27 <strong>of</strong> this supplement and to pay such library the amount agreed there-<br />

28 for, and to certify annually a tax not exceeding one mill on the dollar<br />

29 <strong>of</strong> the taxable property <strong>of</strong> such district, to be used exclusively there-<br />

30 for ; and during the existence <strong>of</strong> such contract a tax sufficient to pay<br />

31 such library the consideration agreed upon, not exceeding one mill on<br />

32 the dollar, shall be certified annually by such board. Each school cor-<br />

33 poration making such contract shall, during the existence <strong>of</strong> such con-<br />

34 tract, be relieved from the requirements <strong>of</strong> section twenty-six hundred<br />

35 six <strong>of</strong> the compiled code. This section shall not be construed to apply<br />

36 in townships where a contract is in existence under the provisions <strong>of</strong><br />

37 section thirty-four hundred forty-three <strong>of</strong> the compiled code.<br />

SEC. 2654. Treasurer to make monthly payment <strong>of</strong> taxes.<br />

1 Before the fifteenth day <strong>of</strong> each month in each year, the county<br />

2 treasurer shall give notice to the president <strong>of</strong> the board <strong>of</strong> each school<br />

3 corporation in the county <strong>of</strong> the amount collected for each fund to the<br />

4 first day <strong>of</strong> such month, and the president <strong>of</strong> each board shall draw his<br />

5 draft therefor, countersigned by the secretary, upon the county treas-<br />

6 urer, who shall pay such taxes to the treasurers <strong>of</strong> the several school<br />

7 boards only on such draft.<br />

8 He shall also keep the amount <strong>of</strong> tax levied for schoolhouse pur-<br />

9 poses separate in each subdistrict where such levy has been made<br />

10 directly upon the property <strong>of</strong> the subdistrict, and shall pay over the<br />

11 same monthly to the treasurer <strong>of</strong> the school township for the benefit<br />

12 <strong>of</strong> such subdistrict.<br />

SEC. 2656. Tax to pay bonds.<br />

1 The board <strong>of</strong> each school corporation shall, when estimating and<br />

2 certifying the amount <strong>of</strong> money required for general purposes, esti-<br />

3 mate and certify to the board <strong>of</strong> supervisors <strong>of</strong> the proper county the<br />

4 amount required to pay interest due or that may become due for the<br />

5 year beginning January first thereafter, upon lawful bonded indebt-
