3 return <strong>of</strong> record in his <strong>of</strong>fice. If the majority <strong>of</strong> the votes cast by the<br />

4 qualified electors are in favor <strong>of</strong> the proposition, a new school corpora-<br />

5 tion shall be organized, except that in cases where separate ballot<br />

6 boxes are required by law, a majority <strong>of</strong> the votes cast by the qualified<br />

7 electors from their respective territories shall be required.<br />

SEC. 2524-al6. Contest <strong>of</strong> election.<br />

1 An election to establish a new school corporation may be contested<br />

2 in the manner provided by law for contesting other elections, so far as<br />

3 practicable.<br />

SEC. 2524-al7. Election <strong>of</strong> directors.<br />

1 If the proposition to establish a new corporation carries, a special<br />

2 meeting shall be called by the county superintendent, by giving notice<br />

3 by one publication in the same newspaper in which the former notices<br />

4 were published, and he shall appoint judges, who shall serve without<br />

5 pay. At such election, two directors shall be elected to serve until the<br />

6 next annual meeting, two until the second, and one until the third<br />

7 annual meeting thereafter, and until such time as their successors are<br />

8 elected and qualified. The judges <strong>of</strong> election shall make return to the<br />

9 county superintendent, who shall enter the return <strong>of</strong> record in his<br />

10 <strong>of</strong>fice and notify the persons who are elected directors and shall set<br />

11 the date for the organization <strong>of</strong> the school board.<br />

SEC. 2524-al8. Payment <strong>of</strong> expenses.<br />

1 The county superintendent shall certify to the board <strong>of</strong> supervisors<br />

2 all expenses incurred by him and the board <strong>of</strong> education in connection<br />

3 with the proceedings in organizing the district, including the election<br />

4 <strong>of</strong> the first board <strong>of</strong> directors, and this board <strong>of</strong> supervisors shall audit<br />

5 and order the same to be paid from the general fund <strong>of</strong> the county.<br />

SEC. 2524-al9. Minimum size <strong>of</strong> territory and remaining area.<br />

1 A school corporation organized Under this section 1 , maintaining<br />

2 an approved central school, shall not be reduced to less than sixteen<br />

3 government sections, unless dissolved as provided by law. No remain-<br />

4 ing portion <strong>of</strong> any school corporation from which territory is taken to<br />

5 form a new district shall contain an area <strong>of</strong> less than four government<br />

6 sections and shall be so situated as to form a suitable corporation.<br />
