SEC. 1989. Statutes applicable.<br />

[This and the three preceding sections repealed by 39 G. A., ch.<br />

187, and the four following sections enacted in lieu there<strong>of</strong>.]<br />

SEC. 1989-al. Care <strong>of</strong> inebriates and drug habituates.<br />

1 The board <strong>of</strong> control shall provide and equip at such <strong>of</strong> the state<br />

2 institutions under its control as it may determine, a ward for the<br />

3 detention, care and treatment <strong>of</strong> such persons as may be committed<br />

4 to such institutions on account <strong>of</strong> being addicted to the excessive use<br />

5 <strong>of</strong> narcotic drugs or <strong>of</strong> intoxicating liquors, and notify the clerk <strong>of</strong><br />

6 the district court <strong>of</strong> each county accordingly.<br />

SEC. 1989-a2. Commitment.<br />

1 All persons found to be addicted to the excessive use <strong>of</strong> narcotic<br />

2 drugs, or <strong>of</strong> intoxicating liquors, and to be proper subjects for deten-<br />

3 tion and treatment shall be committed to the institutions in which<br />

4 such wards are prepared.<br />

SEC. 1989-a3. Statutes applicable.<br />

1 All statutes providing for the trial, commitment, detention and<br />

2 treatment <strong>of</strong> persons addicted to the excessive use <strong>of</strong> drugs or <strong>of</strong><br />

3 intoxicating liquors shall be applicable to the trial, detention, commit-<br />

4 ment and treatment <strong>of</strong> persons provided for in this chapter.<br />

SEC. 1989-a4. Maintenance and support.<br />

1 All persons committed to any institution under the provisions <strong>of</strong><br />

2 this chapter shall be supported and maintained in the same manner as<br />

3 other persons regularly received at such institution' and all provisions<br />

4 <strong>of</strong> law relative to such support and maintenance shall be applicable to<br />

5 persons committed under this chapter.<br />

CHAPTER 13.<br />

CARE OF NEGLECTED, DEPENDENT AND DELINQUENT CHILDREN.<br />

SECTION 2094. Probation <strong>of</strong>ficers—nurses—salaries.<br />

1 . The judge <strong>of</strong> the juvenile court shall have power to select a chief<br />

2 probation <strong>of</strong>ficer, and not to exceed two deputy probation <strong>of</strong>ficers, one<br />

3 <strong>of</strong> whom shall be a woman. He shall also have power to select a visit-<br />

4 ing nurse and competent physician. Said probation <strong>of</strong>ficers shall have<br />

5 all the power and authority <strong>of</strong> a sheriff in and about the discharge<br />

6 <strong>of</strong> their <strong>of</strong>ficial duties and shall be furnished with an <strong>of</strong>fice and all<br />

7 necessary blanks, books and stationery necessary to the performance
