7 2. Women who, prior to the year nineteen hundred five, married<br />

8 honorably discharged United <strong>State</strong>s soldiers, sailors or marines and<br />

9 who have ceased to be the wives <strong>of</strong> such soldiers, sailors or marines<br />

10 by reason <strong>of</strong> their death or because divorced from them without fault<br />

11 on the part <strong>of</strong> the wives, and a subsequent marriage shall not deprive<br />

12 such women <strong>of</strong> the right to the benefits <strong>of</strong> the home, nor shall such<br />

13 right depend upon the presence <strong>of</strong> the husband in the home as a<br />

14 member <strong>of</strong> it.<br />

15 3. Women who are the lawful wives <strong>of</strong> honorably discharged sol-<br />

16 diers, sailors or marines at the time such soldiers, sailors or marines<br />

17 are admitted to the said soldiers' home.<br />

18 The board may permit husbands and wives to occupy together<br />

19 cottages or other quarters on the home grounds.<br />

SEC. 1928. Annual appropriation—support.<br />

1 For the general support <strong>of</strong> said home, there is hereby appropri-<br />

2 ated the sum <strong>of</strong> twenty-eight dollars per month for each member, and<br />

3 fifteen dollars per month for each <strong>of</strong>ficer and employee not a member<br />

4 <strong>of</strong> the home, or so much there<strong>of</strong> as may be necessary, to be estimated<br />

5 by the average number present for the preceding month, these appro-<br />

6 priations to be drawn monthly from the state treasury and expended<br />

7 in the manner provided by chapter one, title nine. If the average<br />

8 number <strong>of</strong> members shall be less than seven hundred fifty in any<br />

9 month, the auditor <strong>of</strong> state and treasurer <strong>of</strong> state shall credit the home<br />

10 with the sum <strong>of</strong> twenty-one thousand dollars for that month in addi-<br />

11 tion to the monthly allowance for each <strong>of</strong>ficer and employee, and the<br />

12 sum so credited shall be drawn from the state treasury in the same<br />

13 manner and for the same purposes as the regular monthly per capita<br />

14 allowance is drawn.<br />

CHAPTER 3.<br />

STATE SANATORIUM FOR THE TREATMENT OF TUBERCULOSIS.<br />

SECTION 1936. Per capita allowance.<br />

1 The board <strong>of</strong> control <strong>of</strong> state institutions shall fix the per capita<br />

2 allowance which may be charged by the said institution for the care,<br />

3 treatment and maintenance <strong>of</strong> each patient therein, which shall not<br />

4 exceed the sum <strong>of</strong> sixty-five dollars per capita per month, which shall<br />

5 be certified by the superintendent to said board <strong>of</strong> control and paid out<br />

6 as provided by the law as it appears in this chapter <strong>of</strong> the supplement<br />

7 to the code, 1907 ; provided that if the aggregate per capita allowance<br />

8 for the patients shall not equal the sum <strong>of</strong> four thousand dollars for<br />

9 any month, the auditor <strong>of</strong> state and treasurer <strong>of</strong> state shall credit the<br />

10 institution with that sum for that month.<br />
