4 reformatory. The board shall procure and furnish the agents with<br />

5 <strong>of</strong>fice room and such furniture, books, blanks and supplies as may be<br />

6 necessary for the proper discharge <strong>of</strong> their duties, in the same manner<br />

7 as supplies are now furnished other <strong>of</strong>ficers <strong>of</strong> the board. The board<br />

8 may furnish such <strong>of</strong>fice room and supplies to said agents at one or<br />

9 more <strong>of</strong> the institutions for which they are to act, and may require<br />

1-0 the institutions to furnish the agents with room, board and facilities<br />

11 for transacting business when stopping therein, without charge.<br />

SEC. 1915. Expense—money advanced.<br />

1 The board <strong>of</strong> control may cause to be advanced from the funds<br />

2 appropriated to each agent from time to time the sums to be used in<br />

3 defraying the <strong>of</strong>ficial expenses <strong>of</strong> such agent, but the aggregate amount<br />

4 <strong>of</strong> money so advanced and not expended at any time shall not exceed<br />

5 the sum <strong>of</strong> two hundred fifty dollars, and the agent shall give security<br />

6 to be approved by the board for the proper use and accounting each<br />

7 month <strong>of</strong> all money so advanced.<br />

CHAPTER 2.<br />

SOLDIERS' HOME.<br />

SECTION 1916. Object.<br />

1 The <strong>Iowa</strong> soldiers' home, located at Marshalltown, shall be main-<br />

2 tained for dependent honorably discharged United <strong>State</strong>s soldiers,<br />

3 sailors or marines and army and navy nurses, their dependent widows<br />

4 and wives.<br />

SEC. 1917. Admission.<br />

1 All persons named in the preceding section, not having sufficient<br />

2 means for his or her support, who are disabled by disease, wounds,<br />

3 old age or otherwise, who served in <strong>Iowa</strong> regiments or batteries, or<br />

4 were accredited to the state <strong>of</strong> <strong>Iowa</strong>, or who were residents <strong>of</strong> the<br />

5 state <strong>of</strong> <strong>Iowa</strong> at the time <strong>of</strong> his or her enlistment or induction into the<br />

6 United <strong>State</strong>s army, navy, marine or nurses corps, or who have been<br />

7 residents <strong>of</strong> the state for three years next preceding the date <strong>of</strong> appli-<br />

8 cation, shall be eligible to admission into said home.<br />

SEC. 1920. Bules for admission.<br />

1 The board <strong>of</strong> control <strong>of</strong> state institutions may receive into the<br />

2 home, under such rules and regulations, and subject to such conditions<br />

3 as said board may prescribe, the dependent persons not having suffi-<br />

4 cient means or ability to support themselves, designated as follows :<br />

5 1. Honorably discharged United <strong>State</strong>s soldiers, sailors, marines<br />

6 and army and navy nurses.<br />
