3 yards, pens, and hog houses. Such carcasses shall be disposed <strong>of</strong><br />

4 within twenty-four hours from such death by cooking, burying, or<br />

5 burning as provided in section seventeen hundred eighty-eight <strong>of</strong> the<br />

6 compiled code, or by disposing <strong>of</strong> them to a state licensed person, firm,<br />

7 or corporation authorized to render such carcasses under the rules and<br />

8 regulations <strong>of</strong> the commission <strong>of</strong> animal health ; provided that farmers<br />

9 shall be permitted to feed to their hogs dead animals that have not<br />

• 10 died <strong>of</strong> contagious diseases.<br />

CHAPTER 20.<br />

LIEN FOR SERVICES OF ANIMALS.<br />

SEC. 1815. Limitation <strong>of</strong> lien.<br />

SEC. 1816. Enforcement <strong>of</strong> lien.<br />

[This and the two preceding sections repealed by 39 G. A., ch.<br />

267, § 1, and the five following sections enacted in lieu there<strong>of</strong>.]<br />

SEC. 1816-al. Lien for service—forfeiture.<br />

1 The owner or keeper <strong>of</strong> any stallion or jack kept for public serv-<br />

2 ice shall have a prior lien on the progeny <strong>of</strong> such stallion or jack, to<br />

, 3 secure the amount due such owner or keeper for the service resulting<br />

4 in such progeny, but no such lien shall obtain where the owner or<br />

5 keeper misrepresents his animal by a false or spurious pedigree, or<br />

6 fails to substantially comply with the laws <strong>of</strong> <strong>Iowa</strong> relating to such<br />

7 animals.<br />

SEC. 1816-a2. When lien attaches—duration—effect <strong>of</strong> sale or<br />

removal.<br />

1 The lien herein provided for shall attach at the birth <strong>of</strong> such<br />

2 progeny and shall remain in force on such progeny for one year and<br />

3 shall not be lost by reason <strong>of</strong> any sale, exchange or removal from the<br />

4 county <strong>of</strong> the animals subject to such lien.<br />

SEC. 1816-a3. Sale or removal prohibited—penalty.<br />

1 It shall be unlawful to sell, exchange or remove permanently from<br />

2 the county any animal subject to the lien herein provided for, without<br />

3 the written consent <strong>of</strong> the holder <strong>of</strong> such lien, and any person violat-<br />

4 ing this provision, shall, on conviction be punished by a fine <strong>of</strong> i\ot<br />

5 less than twenty-five dollars nor more than fifty dollars.<br />
