4 the discharge of his duties, and such amount shall be paid out of the
5 funds appropriated for the work of the commission of animal health.

SECTION 1717. Compensation—expenses.

CHAPTER 14.
COMMISSION OF ANIMAL HEALTH.
SECTION 1729-al. Term of office.
1 The term of office of all members of the commission of animal
2 health hereafter appointed shall be four years. The term of office of
3 all members whose term expires in nineteen hundred twenty-two shall
4 be extended for one year or until June thirtieth, nineteen hundred
5 twenty-three.

SEC. 1730. Compensation—expenses.

SEC. 1733. Assistants—supplies.
1 The commission of animal health is hereby empowered to appoint
2 such assistants as may be required, and to purchase such supplies and
3 materials as may be necessary from the funds provided in this chapter.
4 The commission is further empowered to appoint one or more veteri-
5 narians in each county as assistants, and fix the compensation thereof
6 which may be collected of and paid by the owner of the stock inspected
7 by said veterinarians. Said veterinarians are hereby authorized to
8 perform the work provided for in chapter fifteen of this title under
9 the direction of the commission of animal health, and shall be furnished
10 by said commission with the necessary supplies and materials to carry
11 out the provisions of chapter fifteen of this title, and the commission
12 and assistants herein provided for are empowered to administer oaths
13 or affirmations to any appraisers appointed under chapter fifteen of
14 this title.
