[This and the four preceding sections repealed by 39 G. A., ch.<br />

283, and the nine following sections enacted in lieu there<strong>of</strong>.]<br />

SEC. 87-al. Publication <strong>of</strong> proposed constitutional amendment.<br />

1 Whenever any proposition to amend the constitution has passed<br />

2 the general assembly and been referred to the next succeeding legis-<br />

3 lature, the secretary <strong>of</strong> state shall cause the same to be published, once<br />

4 each week, in two newspapers <strong>of</strong> general circulation in each congres-<br />

5 sional district in the state, for the time required by the constitution.<br />

SEC. 87-a2. Publication <strong>of</strong> proposed public measure.<br />

1 Whenever any public measure has passed the general assembly<br />

2 which under the constitution must be published and submitted to a<br />

3 vote <strong>of</strong> the entire people <strong>of</strong> the state, the secretary <strong>of</strong> state shall cause<br />

4 the same to be published, once each week, in at least one newspaper<br />

5 <strong>of</strong> general circulation in each county in the state, for the time required<br />

6 by the constitution.<br />

SEC. 87-a3. Pro<strong>of</strong> <strong>of</strong> publication—record—report to legislature.<br />

1 Pro<strong>of</strong> <strong>of</strong> the publication specified in the two preceding sections<br />

2 shall be made by the affidavits <strong>of</strong> the publishers <strong>of</strong> the newspapers<br />

3 designated by the secretary <strong>of</strong> state, and such affidavits, with the cer-<br />

4 tificate <strong>of</strong> the secretary <strong>of</strong> state <strong>of</strong> the selection <strong>of</strong> such newspapers<br />

5 shall be filed in his <strong>of</strong>fice, recorded in a book kept for that purpose, and<br />

6 preserved by him, and in the case <strong>of</strong> constitutional amendments he<br />

7 shall report to the following legislature his action in the premises.<br />

SEC. 87-a4. Submission at general election.<br />

1 Whenever a public measure has passed the general assembly<br />

2 which under the constitution must be submitted to a vote <strong>of</strong> the entire<br />

3 people <strong>of</strong> the state and no time is fixed by the constitution or legis-<br />

4 lature for such submission, or whenever a proposition to amend the<br />

5 constitution has been adopted by two succeeding general assemblies<br />

6 and no time is fixed by the last general assembly adopting the same<br />

7 for its submission to the people, said measure or amendment shall be<br />

8 submitted to the people at the ensuing general election, in the manner<br />

9 required by law.<br />
