19 with initiate and promptly follow up the necessary court proceedings<br />

20 against the person or corporation responsible for the alleged violation<br />

21 <strong>of</strong> law. Upon request <strong>of</strong> the state registrar, the attorney general shall<br />

22 assist in the enforcement <strong>of</strong> the provisions <strong>of</strong> this chapter.<br />

SEC. 1376-a24. Appropriation—audit and payment <strong>of</strong> bills.<br />

For the purpose <strong>of</strong> carrying into effect the provisions <strong>of</strong> this<br />

chapter and the payment <strong>of</strong> all expenses connected therewith, including<br />

necessary clerical assistance, there is hereby appropriated out <strong>of</strong> the<br />

funds in the state treasury, not otherwise appropriated, the sum <strong>of</strong> ten<br />

thousand dollars per annum, or so much there<strong>of</strong> as may be necessary<br />

to pay clerical assistance and such other expenses as may be incurred<br />

by the state registrar in establishing a bureau <strong>of</strong> vital statistics, at the<br />

capital <strong>of</strong> the state, for the proper registration <strong>of</strong> all births and deaths<br />

throughout the state <strong>of</strong> <strong>Iowa</strong>, by means <strong>of</strong> certificates <strong>of</strong> births and<br />

deaths, and burial and removal permits. All bills <strong>of</strong> whatsoever nature<br />

or character shall be itemized, certified and approved by the state registrar<br />

to the auditor <strong>of</strong> state, who shall draw warrants therefor, provided<br />

that he finds the same to be true and correct.<br />

SEC. 1376-a25. System exclusive <strong>of</strong> all others.<br />

1 No system for the registration <strong>of</strong> births and deaths shall be con-<br />

2 tinued or maintained in anv <strong>of</strong> the several municipalities <strong>of</strong> this state<br />

3 other than the one provided for and established by this chapter.<br />

CHAPTER 13.<br />

OPTOMETRY.<br />

SECTION 1410. Compensation <strong>of</strong> board <strong>of</strong> examiners—expenses.<br />

1 Each member <strong>of</strong> the board <strong>of</strong> examiners, except the physician<br />

2 members and the secretary, shall be paid five dollars for each day<br />

3 actually engaged in the duties <strong>of</strong> his <strong>of</strong>fice, with actual expenses<br />

4 incurred by him in the discharge <strong>of</strong> such duties, from the fund created<br />

5 by the payment <strong>of</strong> fees by applicants for examination. The secretary<br />

6 shall receive his necessary expenses incurred for services which can<br />

7 not be performed at the capítol. All printing, postage and other con-<br />

8 tingent expenses necessarily incurred under the provisions <strong>of</strong> this<br />

9 chapter shall be paid from said fund. All expenses incurred under the<br />

10 provisions <strong>of</strong> this chapter shall be itemized thereupon and audited and<br />

11 a warrant drawn therefor on the optometrists' fund in the same man-<br />

12 ner as other expenses <strong>of</strong> the state board <strong>of</strong> health.<br />
