NURSING.<br />

SECTION 1330. Compensation <strong>of</strong> examining committee—expenses.<br />

1 Each member <strong>of</strong> the examining committee, except the physician<br />

2 members and the secretary, shall receive for his services out <strong>of</strong> the<br />

3 funds created by the payment <strong>of</strong> fees by applicants for examination<br />

4 eight dollars per day for each day actually engaged in the discharge<br />

5 <strong>of</strong> his duties, and the secretary shall receive his necessary expenses,<br />

6 incurred for services which can not be performed at the capítol. All<br />

7 printing, postage and other contingent expenses necessarily incurred<br />

8 under the provisions <strong>of</strong> this chapter shall be paid from said fund. All<br />

9 expenses incurred under the provisions <strong>of</strong> this chapter shall be item-<br />

10 ized, verified, and audited and a warrant drawn therefor on the nurses'<br />

11 fund in the same manner as other expenses <strong>of</strong> the state board <strong>of</strong><br />

12 health.<br />

SEC. 1331. Examination—fees—certificates—where registered—<br />

transfer by treasurer <strong>of</strong> state.<br />

1 Any person who shall apply for a certificate to practice nursing<br />

2 shall be examined in the following subjects : elementary hygiene, anat-<br />

3 omy, physiology, materia medica, dietetics, and also practical nursing,<br />

4 medical and surgical nursing, obstetrics, nursing <strong>of</strong> children and the<br />

5 rules and regulations <strong>of</strong> the state board <strong>of</strong> health relating to infectious<br />

6 diseases and quarantine and such other subjects as the examining<br />

7 board may require from time to time. Each applicant shall pay the<br />

8 secretary <strong>of</strong> the state board <strong>of</strong> health a fee <strong>of</strong> five dollars. If the<br />

9 examination be satisfactory to three members <strong>of</strong> said committee it<br />

10 shall so report to the state board <strong>of</strong> health ; if the board find the report<br />

11 and ratings correct, it shall authorize its president and secretary to<br />

12 issue a certificate to the successful candidate for which such candidate<br />

13 shall pay an additional fee <strong>of</strong> one dollar. This certificate shall confer<br />

14 upon the holder the right to practice as a registered nurse and be<br />

15 conclusive evidence there<strong>of</strong>. The state board <strong>of</strong> health is empowered<br />

16 to recognize certificates issued to nurses under the laws <strong>of</strong> other states<br />

17 having substantially similar requirements to those existing in this<br />

18 state; provided that such states recognize certificates issued by the<br />

19 state <strong>of</strong> <strong>Iowa</strong>; then certificates issued by authority <strong>of</strong>, such other<br />

20 states may be deemed sufficient evidence <strong>of</strong> qualifications <strong>of</strong> the licen-<br />

21 tiate without further examination for certificate in this state ; the fee<br />

22 for such certificate shall be ten dollars. The holder <strong>of</strong> such certificate<br />

23 provided for in this chapter shall cause the same to be registered in<br />

24 the <strong>of</strong>fice <strong>of</strong> the county recorder <strong>of</strong> the county wherein he intends to<br />

25 reside.<br />

26 On the thirtieth day <strong>of</strong> June in each year, the state treasurer<br />

27 shall transfer to the general revenues <strong>of</strong> the state any balance, in<br />

28 excess <strong>of</strong> five hundred dollars, remaining in the fund derived from<br />

29 fees collected under this section.<br />
