INTERRUPT THIS PROGRAM TO ACTIVATE THE <strong>EMERGENCY</strong> <strong>ALERT</strong><br />

<strong>SYSTEM</strong>” and end with the statement: “THIS CONCLUDES THIS <strong>EMERGENCY</strong><br />

<strong>ALERT</strong> <strong>SYSTEM</strong> MESSAGE.” This audio message, including open, close and body<br />

must be limited to two minutes in order to fit within the recording space provided in the<br />

EAS Decoders.<br />

(4) End of Message Code<br />

The end-of-message code is transmitted by the encoder three times with one second<br />

pauses between transmissions. Its purpose is to return automated broadcast programming<br />

equipment to normal programming after an EAS interruption.<br />

B. The EAS Protocol described above is taken from the FCC Rules, Part 11, and shall be<br />

used exclusively by the Ohio EAS System. Each participating station, subject cable system and<br />

notifier in the state shall program their EAS Decoder/Encoder to facilitate the proper functioning<br />

of the system as described in this Operational Area Plan.<br />
