For a successful project there are a few things to consider when choosing custom lighting:
SELECT A REPUTABLE MANUFACTURER TO ASSIST IN THE CUSTOM DESIGN PROCESS
A manufacturer’s expertise is perhaps the most important factor in making a custom fixture idea into a reality. A
manufacturer who specializes in standard lighting may not have the experience, tools, talent, or space to create
your design. Choose a manufacturer with a proven record of successful projects to assure your project will be a
success.
BE HONEST ABOUT BUDGETS
Custom lighting is generally more expensive than standard lighting. An experienced custom manufacturer will be
able to help you design a luminaire within your budget which is always preferable to the “value engineering”
approach. Modified Standard design can be another cost saving method.
BE WILLING TO COLLABORATE
Not every design that can be conceived can be manufactured and not every design that can be manufactured can
be done at a reasonable cost. Allowing the manufacturer to participate in the design process can help reduce the
cost of the luminaire while preserving the integrity of the design.
