In this study, detection of causative agents of Lyme borreliosis (B.burgdorferi sensu stricto,<br />
B.garinii, B.afzelii, B.valaisiana, B.lusitaniae) and Ehrlichiosis (E.phagocytophila, E.canis,<br />
E.chaffeensis, E.muris), which threaten human health and cause economic loss in animals,<br />
from Ixodes sp ticks by PCR and RLB is attempted. Ticks will be collected from animals and<br />
grassy areas with regular travels to suitable places for tick growth as mountainous parts of<br />
Mediterrenean region (Adana, Mersin, Antalya) and northern Central Anatolia region (Ankara,<br />
Düzce, Kastamonu, Bolu)). Approximately 10 villages will be surveyed with one week travels<br />
to mentioned regions. After species determination of collected ticks, causative agents will be<br />
detected by PCR and RLB in all of the collected ticks belonging to Ixodes family.
