amounts were prepared with current FMD vaccine strains (O1 Manisa, A-������
(Homologous of A Iran 96) and Asia-1 TUR). Following laboratory controls, these
vaccines were applied to cattle in the field and pre vaccination and 28 days post
vaccination antibody levels were determined by ELISA and VNT. Animals which were
seropositive before vaccination were excluded from the study. Serum antibody levels of
vaccines which have the possibility of being routinely prepared at the Institute were
determined in with monthly intervals. 28 days post vaccination antibody levels of vaccines
were different depending on the antigen payload of the vaccines. 7 months post
vaccination, the antibody levels of all vaccines were found within protective immunity
limits and 2 groups were revaccinated with a potent vaccine (O 40.74, A 20.06, Asia-1
12.03 µg/dose) and one group was revaccinated with a vaccine containing O 4.99, A 1.99,
Asia-1 1.44 µg/dose antigens. Following revaccination serum antibody levels were
determined at 30 days and 12 months post vaccination. The results showed that the use of
potent vaccines for revaccination was unnecessary.
The Protective Dose-50 (PD50) of current FMD vaccine strains (O1 Manisa, A-

carried out in cattle according to European Pharmacopoeia and one PD50 value of vaccine
strains were determined as 0.68, 1.35 and 0.66 µg/dose respectively.
