SUMMARY<br />
Parasitic diseases have been held responsible for important economic losses in the<br />
developing Mediterrenean aquaculture sector. Myxosporean parasites are among the most<br />
common fish parasites and these protozoa are considered to be important pathogens of sea (13)<br />
and fresh water (12) fish species.<br />
In this project, the aim is to investigate the prevalence of protozoan parasites from the<br />
Myxosporea phylum and to determine the pathological lesions caused by them in Sea Bream<br />
(Sparus aurata) and Sea Bass(Dicentrarchus labrax) farms in the Aegean region of Turkey<br />
where aquaculture is an important economic activity. Apart from these, the seasonal<br />
relationship with the infection prevalence will also be revealed.<br />
