This Week • Stations of the Cross are held each Friday after the 12:10 Mass and again at 7:00 p.m. on Friday evenings. • Confessions will be available on Wednesdays during Lent from 3:30-5:30 p.m. in the Church and Saturdays 3:00-4:30 p.m. CATHEDRAL BLOOD DRIVE NEXT SUNDAY The next Cathedral Blood Drive will be next Sunday, March 3, in the Fleming Center from 8:30-12:30. You may sign-up to donate after Sunday morning Masses this Sunday in the Vestibule. You can also sign-up online. Go to www.redcrossblood.org, click “Account Login” at the top right hand side of the page. Log in as a donor, enter sponsor code “cathedral019” and schedule your appointment. You may also sign up by phone by calling Sally Stack (298-2932). If you are 17 years of age (16 with parental consent), weigh a minimum of 110 lbs. and in good general health, you may be eligible to donate. This is the first of three blood drives the Cathedral will have in 2013. With one week to go before the drive we have only 26 appointments scheduled while 27 slots are still available!! PLEASE consider donating on March 3rd!!! ADORATION OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT Our monthly Adoration & Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament will be today, Sunday, from Noon until 5:00. The 7th Annual Cathedral St. Patrick’s Day Fundraiser, hosted by Cathedral’s Knights of Columbus Council #544, is coming up on Saturday, March 16 at 6 p.m. We will have live entertainment, dinner, and a silent auction with all proceeds benefiting the Cathedral and Cathedral charities. Tickets are $65 each ($75 after March 3rd) or $550 for a table of 10. Knights will be in the back of the church after all weekend Masses to take reservations. You may also contact Bisell McWilliams (bisell3@gmail.com) for more information, or to donate a silent auction item. 40 DAYS FOR LIFE ST. PATRICK’S DAY FUNDRAISER You are invited to join other Christians for 40 Days for Life (40 days of prayer and fasting for an end to abortion) through March 24 . You are also invited to stand and peacefully pray during a 40-day vigil from 6:00—6:00 in the public right-of-way outside of The Women’s Center, 419 Welshwood Drive. RCIA SECOND SUNDAY OF LENT • FEBRUARY 24, 2013 Adult Confirmation Are you over the age of 18 and a practicing Catholic who missed Confirmation for one reason or another? RCIA Sponsors Are Needed! Have you ever thought that you might like to serve in some way but aren’t quite sure how? RCIA has several people in our Inquiry group who will soon be moving or have moved into the Catechumenate, and we need sponsors! You do not need to be a theologian or someone with a vast knowledge of Catholicism, just someone with a heart to walk this journey of faith with a person who is entering the Church. In fact, most of our volunteers talk of how valuable being a sponsor is because they deepen their own Catholic faith at the same time as the person they sponsor. We meet on Thursday evenings from 7-9:00 p.m. in St. Albert Hall. CRS works in the communities where access to medical care is limited. This week, we pray for families in East Timor and give to CRS Rice Bowl to help people who are struggling with illness. Email Bill at bill.staley@dioceseofnashville.com CATHEDRAL ONGOING ADULT FORMATION & EDUCATION ► This Sunday, as part of our year long celebration of the 175th Anniversary of the Diocese, we continue our series looking at the Holy Men and Women of the Church who have had some influence on the history of the Diocese of Nashville. This Sunday we will have a presentation on Venerable* Mother Catherine McAuley by Sister Suzanne Stahlm RSM and Sister Judith Coode RSM. Venerable Catherine McAuley began the Sisters of Mercy in Ireland, and their teaching charism has been a vital part of the life of the Church in the United States, the Diocese of Nashville, and especially here at the Cathedral parish in the Cathedral School. *”Venerable” is the first title given to a person in the steps toward being named a saint. Adult Formation takes place in room 305 of St. Albert Hall after the 8:30 Mass (9:45am) and ends in time for the 11:00am Mass (10:45am) It is not necessary for you to have attended previous sessions of our adult formation program to attend any particular one. Come join Sister Suzanne and Sister Judith have a cup of coffee and a donut and enjoy this presentation. Child care is available.
