(P) Overhead track systems to assist <strong>with</strong> lifting or transferring;<br />

(Q) Specialized electric and plumbing systems that are<br />

necessary to accommodate the medical equipment and<br />

supplies necessary <strong>for</strong> the welfare of the individual; or<br />

(R) Modifications to a vehicle to meet the unique needs of the<br />

individual (lift, interior alterations such as seats, head and leg<br />

rests and belts, special safety harnesses, or other unique<br />

modifications to keep the individual safe in the vehicle).<br />

(b) Environmental accessibility adaptations exclude:<br />

(A) Adaptations or improvements to the <strong>home</strong> that are of<br />

general utility and are not of direct medical or remedial benefit<br />

to the individual, such as carpeting, roof repair, and central air<br />

conditioning; and<br />

(B) Adaptations that add to the total square footage of the<br />

<strong>home</strong>.<br />

(31) "Environmental Modification Consultant" means either an independent<br />

provider, provider organization, or general business paid <strong>with</strong> support<br />

services funds, to provide advice to an individual, the individual's legal<br />

representative, or the individual's personal agent about the environmental<br />

accessibility adaptation required to meet the individual's needs.<br />

(32) "Exit" means either termination from a Department-funded<br />

developmental disability service provider or transfer from one Departmentfunded<br />

service provider to another.<br />

(33) "Family" <strong>for</strong> determining individual eligibility <strong>for</strong> brokerage services as<br />

a resident in the family <strong>home</strong> and <strong>for</strong> determining who may receive family<br />

training, means a unit of two or more persons that include at least one<br />

individual <strong>with</strong> developmental disabilities where the primary caregiver is:<br />

(a) Related to the individual <strong>with</strong> developmental disabilities by blood,<br />

marriage, or legal adoption; or<br />

(b) In a domestic relationship where partners share:<br />
