to the 2012-2016 UNDAF,<br />
directly contribut<strong>in</strong>g to<br />
outputs under the Health<br />
and Drug Control priority<br />
areas. <strong>Iran</strong> has also been<br />
designated as one of 31<br />
“high impact” countries<br />
eligible for additional,<br />
catalytic fund<strong>in</strong>g under the<br />
UBRAF. The Jo<strong>in</strong>t<br />
Programme of Support is<br />
also therefore the pr<strong>in</strong>cipal<br />
tool to mobilise HIV-related<br />
resources. MFA has agreed<br />
<strong>in</strong> pr<strong>in</strong>ciple to establish<strong>in</strong>g a<br />
Steer<strong>in</strong>g Committee for the<br />
Jo<strong>in</strong>t Programme, de facto<br />
grant<strong>in</strong>g it the status<br />
equivalent to that of a<br />
Country Programme or an<br />
UNDAF Area of Cooperation.<br />
1. Follow<strong>in</strong>g the UNAIDS<br />
Executive Director’s visit to<br />
<strong>Iran</strong> <strong>in</strong> 2010 and the High-<br />
Level Meet<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> New York <strong>in</strong><br />
<strong>2011</strong>, UNAIDS has been<br />
actively broker<strong>in</strong>g the<br />
development of a nationwide<br />
programme to prevent the<br />
transmission of HIV from<br />
mother to child by<br />
conven<strong>in</strong>g and engag<strong>in</strong>g key<br />
<strong>in</strong>stitutional stakeholders at<br />
national level. 2. UNAIDS<br />
CO has cont<strong>in</strong>ued its<br />
support of People Liv<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong><br />
HIV <strong>in</strong> <strong>Iran</strong> through<br />
implementation of the<br />
“Psychosocial Support for<br />
People Liv<strong>in</strong>g with HIV”<br />
project. There are currently<br />
13 Positive Clubs active <strong>in</strong><br />
the country, cater<strong>in</strong>g for<br />
some 4273 registered<br />
members. Over 100 different<br />
such events have been held<br />
<strong>in</strong> <strong>2011</strong>. 3. A documentary<br />
on <strong>Iran</strong>’s national response<br />
