extensive exhibition of his paintings

solo exhibitions have been held at

York; and Danese Gallery, New
York. He will have solo shows at
Gagosian Gallery, London, England,
and Fredericks Freiser Gallery,
New York. The Chinati Foundation is
preparing to renovate a building on
the museum grounds for a permanent
installation of his work (see
Message from the Director, p. 2),
and is very grateful for his contribution
of four editions of silkscreens to
benefit the museum (see Chinati Editions,
p.38).
EMI WINTER, Mexico, 2001: During
her residency at the beginning of the
year, Emi worked with master printer
Robert Arber in Chinati’s print studio
to complete several groups of prints.
The resulting relief prints and woodblocks
were shown in Marfa during
Chinati’s May symposium, and have
subsequently been shown at the Instituto
de Artes Gráficas in Oaxaca,
Mexico.
JUREK WYBRANIEC, Australia, 1996:
Jurek teaches at the Western Australian
School of Art, Design and
Media in Perth, Australia. Recent solo
exhibitions of his work have been
held at Goddard de Fiddes Contemporary
Art, Perth; Project 11, Sydney
Australia; Hebel_121, Basel,
Switzerland; and elsewhere. He has
organized several joint exhibitions
with fellow former resident Daniel
Göttin, including lounge at Goddard
de Fiddes Contemporary Art
and WASADM project at the Western
Australian School of Art, Design
and Media. Jurek will have an Australia
Council Studio Residency in
Los Angeles during 2002.

Internships
The Chinati Foundation initiated a
University Internship Program in
1990, and has hosted seventy-eight
students and recent graduates since
that time. Interns come from throughout
Texas, the United States, and
abroad. To date, students from ten
foreign countries are represented
among our past interns. Typically,
six to eight interns come for periods
of up to three months each. They are
exposed to many different areas of
the museum operation, such as conducting
tours of the collection for visitors,
assisting with research, maintaining
the grounds and buildings,
providing administrative support,
preparing exhibition spaces, and
assisting in the preparation of museum
events and publications.
The internships are intended primarily
for college and university students,
who can often arrange to receive
course credit through their
institutions. Recent graduates and
other interested individuals are also
encouraged to apply. Openings are
available throughout the year, and
applications are reviewed on an ongoing
basis. The museum provides
housing on the grounds along with a
$75 weekly stipend. Interns have full
access to Chinati’s collection and library,
and have the unique opportunity
to closely interact with visiting
architects, artists, scholars, museum
professionals, and the Marfa community.
Daily exchanges with museum
visitors, staff, resident artists,
and fellow interns are integral aspects
of a Chinati Foundation internship.

INTERNS/INTERNADOS 2001:
Internados
Desde que la Fundación Chinati inauguró
en 1990 su Programa para Internados
Universitarios, han participado
más de 78 estudiantes y graduados
provenientes de todo el estado de Texas,
los Estados Unidos y diez países
extranjeros. En años recientes hemos
recibido de seis a ocho internos cada
vez durante periodos de hasta tres meses.
Los internos trabajan en estrecha
colaboración con todo el personal de
Chinati, llegando a conocer varios aspectos
de la operación del museo: servir
de guía a los visitantes, ayudar con
la investigación, contribuyendo al
mantenimiento de las instalaciones,
brindando apoyo administrativo, preparando
espacios de exhibición y asistiendo
en la preparación de eventos y
publicaciones del museo.
Los internados son principalmente para
alumnos universitarios, muchos de los
cuales reciben crédito académico en la
institución donde están inscritos. Invitamos
solicitudes: hay vacantes durante
todo el año y revisamos continuamente
las solicitudes. Los participantes
se hospedan en las instalaciones del
museo y reciben un estipendio de $75
