Joanne Michelini Pigott Fund (2003) The Joanne Michelini Pigott Fund was established by Joanne’s co-workers at Mooreland Hill School, where she was a beloved teacher for 32 years. The fund honors her many contributions to the education and development of young people. The Berlin-Peck Memorial Library will benefit from the fund with support for the acquisition of books. Natalie K. Pollock Development Fund (1995) The Natalie K. Pollock Development Fund was established by the Foundation’s board of directors in honor of the Foundation’s first employee, who served from 1991 through 1994. Natalie recognized the importance of development to a community foundation and knew that the availability of adequate resources was essential to a successful development program. Father John J. Reilley Fund (1993) Father John J. Reilley established this designated fund to support the Catholic education of children at the St. Joseph School in New Britain. Following the closing of the school in 2006, and in accordance with the fund agreement, future distributions are earmarked for the Hartford Archdiocese Educational Fund. Sacred Heart School Fund (1997) The Sacred Heart School Fund was established by an anonymous donor to support the general purposes of this Catholic elementary school in New Britain. The fund was set up as an endowment for Sacred Heart School as a way to help it achieve financial stability and to provide a vehicle for other donors to make contributions. Stanley Memorial Church Fund (1998) The Stanley Memorial Church Fund was created by the Alix W. Stanley Charitable Foundation to provide annual funds for the general purposes of this church. Alix Stanley’s family assisted in establishing this Congregational church in New Britain that bears his name. Stanley Park Fund was established by the City of New Britain to support public purposes for A. W. Stanley Park in New Britain. Land and a house, known as the Gad Stanley House, were given to the City in 1910 by benefactor and philanthropist Alix W. Stanley to be used for public purposes. In the year 2000, the house was sold and the proceeds were used to establish the fund. Helen P.G. and John C. Vibberts Fund (2005) The Helen P.G. and John C. Vibberts Fund was established with a planned gift by Helen for the conservation and maintenance of the Sanford B.D. Low Illustration Collection at the New Britain Museum of American Art. Helen and John Vibberts were New Britain natives with deep ties to the community they loved. Loyal friends and supporters of the New Britain Museum of American Art, where Helen volunteered for more than 50 years, the Vibberts were also friends and admirers of Mr. Low, long-time museum director. John C. and Helen P.G. Vibberts Fund (1998) The John C. and Helen P. G. Vibberts Fund was established with gratitude to benefit Hospital for Special Care, a facility that provided Jack with “exceptional and motivational care and a philosophy that would not allow a patient to give up.” The Weld Fund (1999) The Weld Fund was established by a bequest from the estate of Judith Vance Weld Brown to honor the memory of her father, Gardner C. Weld. The fund is a designated fund to benefit numerous organizations that were important to Mrs. Brown and her family. Wellman Family Fund (1998) The Wellman Family Fund was established by Lindsley Wellman and currently benefits the Community Foundation of Greater New Britain’s Administrative Endowment Fund. Mr. Wellman has named numerous beneficiary organizations that will share in future distributions in perpetuity. Donors determine the criteria for selecting students for scholarships they establish to help cover the costs of higher education. Donors may support education for deserving young people or enterprising adults with a gift of $20,000 or more to establish a named scholarship fund at the Community Foundation. Suzanne Beckius Scholarship Fund (2002) The Suzanne Beckius Scholarship Fund was established in memory of Sue Beckius, whose love of theater, music and young people led her to help found the Plainville Choral Society and devote long hours to the Southington Youth Summer Theater. The scholarship is for graduating high school seniors and students already attending an accredited university or college full time, who have participated in Southington Youth Summer Theater and/or Plainville Choral Society Youth Summer Theater and are pursuing college studies. Eleanor and Nathan Berry Scholarship Fund (2001) The Eleanor and Nathan Berry Scholarship Fund was a bequest to the Foundation from the Berrys to establish a college scholarship for local children. The couple loved children though they never had any of their own. They had an appreciation for competent, resourceful young people who didn’t expect things to be handed to them. This scholarship is for graduating high school seniors who are residents of Berlin, Farmington, New Britain, Newington, Plainville and Southington pursuing four-year college degrees in medicine or finance.
