34 | INGERSOLL RAND • SIMPLAIR PIPING SIMPLAIR EL Installation EASY INSTALLATION • To make a connection, simply push the tube in by hand • The unique, patented SimplAir EL collet locking system holds the tube firmly in place without deforming it or restricting flow Pipe Cutting • Cut the pipe cleanly to ensure it is free of score marks • For SimplAir EL aluminum pipe we recommend a SimplAir EL pipe cutter • Do not use a hacksaw • To avoid damage to the O-ring, make sure burs and sharp edges are removed Use A SimPlair EL Pipe Cutter ✔ Do Not Use a Hacksaw ✗ ✗ irtools.com • (800) 376-TOOL 5/8" (15 MM) AND 1" (22 MM) FITTINGS Making a Connection 1. Fittings and pipe should be clean and undamaged before use. 2. With the fitting clean and undamaged, and the pipe cut squarely as described on this page, you are now ready to make the connection. Push Up to Pipe Stop 3. Push the pipe into the fitting to the pipe stop. The collet (gripper) has stainless steel teeth that will hold the pipe firmly in position while the O-ring provides a permanent leakproof seal. Pull to Check if Secure 4. Pull on the pipe to check that it is secure. It is critical to test the system prior to leaving the site or before use. Disconnecting 1. Ensure the system is depressurized. Push in collet 2. Push the collet in and remove the pipe. Remove pipe 3. Push in collet squarely against the face of the fitting. 4. With the collet held in this position, the pipe can be removed, and the fitting can be reused.
