Six Star is the new hospitality scholarship<br />
programme. As ‘overseer’ of the<br />
Philanthropic Fund, this budget-conscious<br />
client wanted a financially accountable<br />
and practical fit-out that would make<br />
a bold modern statement. This had to<br />
embrace the principles of hospitality that<br />
Six Star represented by functioning also<br />
as a comfortable and well appointed<br />
entertainment space.<br />
The fit-out is designed to grow from a<br />
single person operation to eventually<br />
becoming the hub of a larger office, The<br />
meeting space is also currently shared<br />

by other tenancies on the floor. This is<br />
achieved by sliding divider walls that can<br />
extend or shut off the meeting room from<br />
the second space (currently used as an<br />
office).<br />
The feature colours were selected from<br />
either end of the wide gradient palettes<br />
offered by the Six Star brand guidelines.<br />
These rainbow gradients include softer<br />
colours but the stronger colours were<br />
picked out to give punch to a relatively<br />
simply fit-out. With the majority of the<br />
fit-out being deep internal space, these<br />

colours are anchored by charcoal greys<br />
and silver accents for a gender neutral<br />
environment.<br />
Colour and privacy are afforded by<br />
translucent films applied to internal<br />
windows. <strong>Resene</strong>’s wide range of colours<br />
allowed Interact to match a palette with<br />
the Oracal and Melteca/Formica products.<br />
Furniture selection was by the client<br />
with the assistance of Interact. Although<br />
the furniture was for the most part<br />
secondhand, modern pieces were<br />
selected to tie in with the colour scheme<br />
of the Six Star office.<br />
